Um, actually, yes. Juliet isn't wondering about Romeo's location. I know a lot of directors have tried to get mileage out of the dramatic irony of having Juliet seemingly wonder where the fuck Romeo could be when actually he is hiding just a few feet away on the trellis. But they're just stupid. What Juliet is really asking is "of all the people in the world this seemingly perfect boy could have been, why did he have to be Romeo Montague, son of my parents' most hated enemies??". It's supposed to be a metaphysical question about the nature of identity (could she love him if he *wasn't* a Montague?), family and loyalty (are they strong enough to defy their families) and about fate (they are, after all, "star cross'd lovers"). Perhaps Juliet should have asked "wherefore art thou a Montague?", but she didn't and we're all gonna have to get over it. Why are you saying that people who don't own a computer are 'hardly the key CD buying demographic'? In the US, a new CD is $10-$15. A new computer, on the other hand, is US$500. Lots of people can't afford a computer and still buy CDs. And that's ignoring the people who can afford a computer and don't own one. They deserve to get paid for it. But I'm still going to say buying albums second hand isn't so bad, as it's sorta like buying paintings. After the artist has sold a copy, this copy then might go on and be sold again and again, with only the subsequent owners seeing any profit. And although, it is a little different to CDs/vinyl/cassettes, a painting could be reproduced and a number of copies sold, it's just not as easy as CD reproduction. And music can save someone's life. You have to know that. Don't be so stupid. You do hear a fair few stories of it (some of which probably are true), where an individual was feeling so low, suicidal, but then they picked up a copy of *insert Tori album name here*. The music didn't save my life, personally, but I too have read hundreds of testimonials from fans of Tori as well as a lot of other artists where they claim to have had their life saved by miscellaneous music. It's all valid. I buy Tori's work because i have this stupid ideal that if I buy more, then that all adds up to more sales, which equals more chance of her touring here. Also because I have soooo much respect for her & I love having a 'perfect' tori collection. But I also don't judge those who download her music/get burnt copies/etc. Spread the love, and spread the tori music. I don't know... I am just imagining that indescribable yelp that's going to escape from my throat when the announcement is made that she's touring Australia!!! (I'm yelping inside just imagining that yelp!! Eeeeeeee!!!!) Sorry to waste your precious time with this silly email, but I SOOOO badly want and need an australian tour from her, as you all do. MY GOD I am soooo desperate. I just can't stop thinking about it.... *signing off* holly _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Feb 2003 23:10:40 -0800 (PST) From: Nathan "®" Subject: Re: [oztori] Glory to Tori Who Is a Non-Aussie Supporter Holly Williamson wrote: > I SOOOO badly > want and need an australian tour from her, as you > all do. 'j/k'... but speaking of which... has anyone else on this list woken up one day & had the sudden realisation that you think you have *too much* Tori stuff?! That happened to me today. Um, only if you're not squeamish can i recommend you go there. He contacted a specific member of this list due to a misunderstanding of a nickname. His boyfriend is teddybehr. Can be found at the gaydar address also, but change filthpigmelb to teddybehr .. Um, don't look at the pictures. Both um, big ol'e fat guys into leather and shoving faces into pillows, and very, very icky stuff. The reason nayth sent out that email is becuz Filthpigmelb is so horrible, and cuz i was stupid and thought it an alter ego or something.. They wouldn't know what a dictionary is. I hope you're up to date. I too know how it feels to be thick and not get jokes even when i'm part of the "inside" that should know what the joke is about. I too know the awkward silence and the "Duh" face we present when faced with jokes we should understand. It's alright.
