Star Wars Attack of the Clones CD - 2nd hand. I was playing it in my CD-RW drive. It was being played using Winamp 2.8 Towards the end of the CD it starts Skipping, and buzzing and making all sorts of wierd noises - as if it was indeed skipping. I went into overdrive - to work out the problem. 1. checked Cd over for scratches/smudges - none. 2. played again - still does it. 3. Play it using windows media player - still does it. 4. Take it out and play it in DVD player - doesn't do it. Using both Winamp or Windows Media Player 5. Put in another CD into original CD-RW player - so far no problems - everything as usual. Playing later tracks incase it's something at the edge of the disc. NOW question is - what the fuck is going wrong with my computer NOW!?! I want to be armed with the info - incase I have to take the fucker back to the place I got it from. OK - is there something wrong with my CDRW drive? Why would it start skipping now? It's only done it to one disc - is it possible it doesn't like the disc in some-way? Could it have a strange error on the disc that only the CDRW pics up and not the DVDROM? Is my CDRW drive buggered? Is the disc faulty and should I take THAT back? What is going on? Thanks Andrew ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Jan 2003 22:26:17 +1000 From: AndrewR Subject: [oztori] Wierd things with CDs... supplemental Is it possible the CDRW is more sensitive than the DVDROM? And that it picked up slight defects in the Star Wars CD? I will go and try it on a stereo. Or I have heard of some CDs that have copy protection not working properly - could that be it? I've noticed it's skipping - but the counter in winamp just keeps on jugging along, as if it was reading the skips. How stupid - I mean I've already seen most of the tracks on the net! LOL! I read where old CD burners easily overcome this copy-protection. Anyone got any other CDs that have copy protection? Must look out for an old burner... like a 2x or a 4x :) Ho would I hook that up? is it easy? I was rather unwilling to get on the lift - it was pretty freaky! but once ze got up the top i was ok as long as i didn't look directly down. I got a photo of ,e standing on the edge though to prove i went up there! we wandered around paris a bit but it started raining pretty heavily while we were up the tower so we made our way back to where we are staying and are gonna get an early night. i am geting very frustrated not being able to speak french. I've been able to order ,y ozn food etc but other than that i can't really do anything - - so it kills the idea of going out anywhere at night. well i'll be home in a couple of days so i can't wait to see you all!!!
