And then sometimes she can't even remember having recorded certain songs - eg. Humpty Dumpty when playing live in '96 she said something like "I can't remember me doing it ever". I vaguely recall reading somewhere that she has no idea where the master recordings of the Michael Stipe duet are either. Tsk tsk... careless girl! Hey, Rachel, Dan - yell out for her to do some of those 'unheard' tracks like Zero Point, To the Fair Motor Maids of Japan, Fresh Mown Grass or Snow Cherries from France!! What dickheads - don't they realise if they keep these things (eg. the UTP digipak CD with different artwork that was similarly destroyed) they can then sell them for like squillions of dollars?!?! > What is this Precious Things promo - was it to be a > single!?! It's a US promo CD which came out there in August '92 which features PT/Upside Down/Flying Dutchman/Mary/Mother (Live - same live version as on Crucify Live EP). 'tis a picture CD with a back sleeve only (ie, no front picture sleeve). > Is it uber > rare? Yup. > What was on it? Art-work? You can see it here: http://www.eskimo.com/~shaman/ToriAmos/Promos/CDs/PRCD4742.HTM Apparently Atlantic were considering releasing it as a single in the US, but changed their minds. Fools! I've never understood why concert-goers don't shout out for these, rather than you generic, boring, could-hear-a-million-times-live-if-you-really-went-looking for-it-anyway songs like SATY, Leather, et al. And while you're at it.. yell out for "When I Was Dreaming"! I'd love to hear Tori do that one live (and before you ask Andrew, 'twas a song she recorded a demo of during the period she was writing Little Earthquakes... a not-terribly-great-but-decipherable-nonetheless copy of it is floating around... but it'd be nice to hear a *clear* version of it! (yes Julian, insert all the SQQ comments you must..). Speaking of which Andz.. I just *might* do those CD's for you tomorrow (not like I'll have anything better to do on Xmas day)... Though I won't be able to send them till next Monday @ the earliest... *DAMN fucking lazy Australia Post! Who do they think they are having holidays @ Xmas/New Year's?!?!?!* (*they also happened to lose a CD I sent to a friend who lives 2 hours away the other week. Just as well 'twas only a burnt CD and not a fucking Baltimore single! I really ought to sue them... I mean, you pay for a 'service'.. you should bloody well be able to get it! And while I'm on a rant here about this... I don't understand having to pay extra to 'insure' something you send - I mean, if the posting system did its job in the first place, things would be guaranteed to GET delivered reliably and in one piece...) What dickheads - don't they realise if > they keep these things (eg. the UTP digipak CD with > different artwork that was similarly destroyed) they > can then sell them for like squillions of dollars?!?! The original UtP was destroyed at Tori's request, because she didn't like the artwork. The only reason that the original UtP goes for 'like squillions of dollars' (I'm assuming you're talking AU$ here, since the CD version of it usually fetches US$800-$1500 ;) is because of its rarity and the fact that the artwork is unavailable elsewhere. It is at least as rare as, and quite possibly more rare than, then 'Baltimore' single. [PT promo] > Apparently Atlantic were considering releasing it as a > single in the US, but changed their minds. > Fools! I don't know if it was a particularly bad decision on their part. They released five singles for that album anyway (MaaG, SATY, China, Winter, Crucify). Six is pretty much unheard-of for any album, let alone an artist's first. (Don't get anal and try to point to YKTR as her first. It doesn't count, and you know it.) PT has a different sound than the other singles, certainly. And there's the point that it's in my top ten least favourite Tori songs (or, I suppose, bottom ten, depending on how you want to look at it), so I think they made the right decision in failing to release it. ;) /nm ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 22:13:27 -0800 (PST) From: Nathan "®" Subject: Re: [oztori] Got some spare tra$h lying around? How wasteful of her though.. she could have auctioned them off and given the money to "the children" (said in sickly effeminate Michael Jackson voice). > [PT promo] > > > Apparently Atlantic were considering releasing it > as a > > single in the US, but changed their minds. > > Fools! > > I don't know if it was a particularly bad decision > on their part. And if we are getting technical, MAAG & SATY really only count as one release in the UK (excepting the re-issue of SATY), as SATY was MAAG re-issued 3 weeks later, and they both had the same catalogue no. And 'they' had 5 for BFP (in US) - CALS, Talula, Pro Widow, Hey Jupiter, and ITSOHV. > Six is pretty much unheard-of for any > album, Michael jackson (heheh again) had 9 singles from Dangerous. > let alone an artist's > first.
