The "Lily is dancing on the table" bits, I think (and Lily's such a drag-queenish name, it has to be about a drag queen on the table in a gay club!) - along with the "We've all been pushed too far" and "on days like these you know who your friends are" bits - make me feel like it's describing the gay community reacting to a premature death by coming together as usual and trying to do normal stuff, but there's now an air of sadness about it... Thing is, you're looking at it from a "how things show up on the screen" point of view, wherein laying things out in tables is fine -- it allows things to show up pretty much the same in most browsers. For users who are disabled and relying on screen readers and so on to read the content to them, laying things out in tables is an absolute disaster -- they get the content in all the wrong order, all muddled up, and can't make head nor tail of it. Separating style from content is good because anyone can apply their own stylesheet to your content (overriding your own) and thus see/hear it the way they want to. >>* = nn4 users comprise about 5-10% of users on most websites. > >What reason could there be for this? That's much higher than I >would've >thought it'd be. I think Zac's actually being optimistic there. I've read that it's as low as 2%, but I'd compromise and say 2-5% to be on the safe side. Either way, there are more disabled users than that (over 20% of the Australian population identify as having a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act, which I assume we can extrapolate to the rest of the world), so we should be catering to them more than we should be to NN4x users. Most remaining NN4 users seem to be academic ones, for what reason I'm not sure. But that's apparently the case. >>do yourself a favour and use it more often :) > >But it's Microsoft! But it's GOOD! Yes Rooz, just like we never hear anything about any of the people from 30 or 40 countries OTHER than the US that died in the World Trade Centre alone. I remember September 11, 2002 - not one mention in any of the commemorations of the Australian, New Zealander, Japanese, Chinese, Canadians, Mexicans, British, French, Russian, Italian, German, South African, Argentinian, Israeli, Iranian, Saudi, Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Phillipino, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swede, Norweigian, Korean, Icelandic, Brazilian, Uruguayan, Indonesian, Egyptian, Turk, Greek, Austrian, Danish etc. etc. etc. people who died in those atrocities. I don't know what you felt after the Bali Bombings but one of the first things I thought about was how the Balinese people are going to deal with this - it will devistate their lives. Not too many Baliese were injured/killed I believe in the clubs - because they were Westerners-go only clubs - catering for the tourism trade. A Friend of the families has some friends who were visited Bali frequently - for the last 20 years or so. They had become quite close to a family in Bali that they got to know - they use to take up presents for the kids and all sorts of stuff for them. They were quite worried how this group of people who already struggle are going to cope (she was there when the bombs went off). The stupid thing is these moronic mass-murderers don't care anything for their country-men and women. They've not only killed hundreds of people but decimated a fragile economy while their at it. Of course this is what they want - don't they want to go back to the ways of mediaeval times? Andrew Replying, cause I remembered out of the blue about The Sep 11 anniversary and how there was no mention of anyone else BUT Americans. Hello it wasn't called a WORLD Trade Centre for nothing. Phoenix is even better! Phoenix is like nn7/mozilla with even less 'bloat'. It has no email and news built it, so it loads faster. But you need mozilla installed to run it. Anyhow, its probably not worth spending another hour downloading, but if you ever need a browser upgrade, get mozilla/phoenix. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002 11:21:03 GMT From: Rebecca Appleton Subject: Re: Re[5]: [oztori] OzTori Site, among other things On Wed, 13 Nov 2002 12:11:20 +1100, Shane Goh wrote: >Mozilla is slightly better. >nn7 is based on the old version of mozilla. Yah, that makes sense since Mozilla'd be constantly evolving. Since I've got to develop for these browsers, though, I figure I'm best off sticking with using the major ones, which I know people will be using. :) >Phoenix is even better! Oh, that sounds like a good idea - not having email and news. What kind of dumb idea was that, in the first place? Just because I use someone's browser doesn't mean I want to use their email program, and I don't even read news. :-/ Give me my pocomail any day of the week! ~Becc, all grumbly because IIS keeps *saying* it's installed, but isn't fricken there... grrrrr - -- www.crappism.org ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002 11:19:53 +1000 From: "AndrewR" Subject: RE: [oztori] PJ > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-oztori@smoe.org [mailto:owner-oztori@smoe.org] On Behalf Of > M.T. -Oz > Sent: Tuesday, 12 November 2002 6:54 PM > To: oztori@smoe.org > Subject: [oztori] PJ > > please....does anyone know if PJHarvey is playing any gigs in Brisbane > other > than BDO? > > >Mark I wish.
