I've been hearing lots of "generalisations" about people recently and I have decided how I am going to operate for the next few years of my life. HOMOSEXUALS can be just as fucked as HETEROSEXUALS. And vice versa. You just need to find people "on your level". They are rare. If you pay more attention to ASTROLOGY you will do very well :) For example, Virgo's and Gemini's just should not mix. EVER. Chinese astrology also! I have found in my experience (and I am 24, almost the OLDEST bastard here!) that Earth signs really *do* mix well with Earth signs and the odd Water sign. I clash terribly with Fire signs! Then you have to find a Sun sign compatable with your Moon (chinese) sign. . . its all very involved, but it does work well :) All these hetero/homo "questions" on oztori are highly ideological, basically because we all think the same way thanks to the wonderful AND NOT AT ALL KOOKY teachings of Tori. Which brings me to another point, I find heaps more sense in what Tori says than half of the world's leaders. Especially about people and relationships and her general outlook on life. I don't understand why she is labeled as "weird" and "eccentric". Perhaps that just makes me the same way? It's like, if you find a Tori fan (OK, outside of the USA) you can give them a modicum of respect almost immediately. I mean, a TORI FAN. Dare I use the word Toriphile (ick) or Ears with Feet (Tori still needs a big fat slap for that). Although I understand her sentiment. Back to the homo/hetero thing. Homo's make an issue of it because society *as a whole* does. When a Homo makes an issue of it to a Hetero that *doesn't* you get crossed lines. Not all Homo's make an issue of it, half of us aren't even argumentative. There is the same BULLSHIT ratio between hetero/homo people. There are just less Homo's. APPARENTLY. Now, about making generalisations. We all do it, we all should admit it. We constantly compare others to ourselves, to our ideals, ideas, wants, needs, fears, etc. We can't help it. It's intrinsic. People are always making sweeping generalisations to make a small point. I judge, therefore I am ;) Hmmm, that was a bit of an interesting reply, I should stop now! I get quite chatty after some tea and toast *grin* Oh my god - Scarlet's Walk is phenomenal, I am having about 50 torgasms a day *starts sweating* Sporting events don't just attract complete morons, they also attract lots and lots of sweaty, muscled, tanned. . . ooooo! After all, there are theologists with PhD's and TheolD's etc. who are adamant that Jesus walked on water, or that the Noah's Arc flood thing really happened. Well if you like cricket, that's fine for you if that's your thing. It's not suggesting in itself that you are a moron.. Just Will & mine's "alternative hypothesis" is that there are a higher proportion of morons at sporting events than there are in non-sporting places. Sure, we haven't tested it 'empiracally'. Maybe that could be a masters topic for you :) > I've found many more morons at the Big Day Out or at > local music gigs (or even at my uni's O'Day) than I > do > at the cricket at the WACA every summer. Again, these are subjective interpretations, which you, as a beginning researcher, should appreciate are not of themselves proven 'facts'.. if we are being all wanky head-up-own-ass-academic about things here :) > In short... will everyone please stop with the > generalisations? They get us nowhere That is a generalisation in itself :) And generalisations DO get us somewhere. If we couldn't simply generalise about things, we'd spend half our day trying to figure out each person's individual characteristics, and would never get enough time to focus on more the more important things in life.. like writing oztori e-mails. > and can never > be > "accurately" made, and much harm has been done in > their > name. If we are going to be "non-generalising" here.
