Howdy ho Aussie Tori fans...Mark is me and this would be my first post to OzTori after about a week of lurking(I tend to lurk more than post) I am SO impressed with Scarlett's Walk. How come no ones been commenting on the music??I haven't read a single positive thing about it yet:( I've been a big fan since Little earthquakes.Love every CD heaps except for SLG..that one didn't much get into me.I decided last night that this new album is IMO her best.Apart from SLG I have felt that way about each album release...(that they were better than the one before).Pele has been my sentimental fave(a nose in front of FTCH,also a nose in front of TVAB)but SW is def my fave now. We'll see if that changes in a few months I guess but I doubt it.I love EVERY song after about 10 listens through! How are other fellow Aussie Tori lovers enjoying(or not) SW? I'd just like to state the obvious because it has to be said...Doesn't it SUCK how Tori keeps skipping us by on her tours:( If she doesn't tour this time I'm gonna burn my entire Tori collection! Well actually that's a lie but I WILL cry and chuck a tantrum! My 2 cents on the futility or not of promoting Tori via posters....personally I think there are many average Joes and Janes out there who do have great taste in music and will be interested to know there is a new Tori album out.How much of that will translate to sales who knows but I think it's important to keep Toris profile up in some form of visibility.Apart from Triple J listeners it is only through the rare review or street poster or instore display that Aussies would have a clue that new Tori is available unless they stumble upon it in the A section on the racks! Anyway, glad to have found an Oz Tori outlet and nice to e-meet y'all.. >Mark >From: "AndrewR" >To: >Subject: RE: [oztori] Scarlet's Jaunt debuts at number... >Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 02:50:29 +1000 > > > Andrew R: > > > > > And the posters in peculiar positions - like > > > billboard posters have been > > > few and far between - like on that one I saw at > > > Chermside was put there > > > Last week. Let me be the first to warn you of Nayth's retaliatory post to your first post. He posts under Nathan R but you can usually smell his venemous and froth covered e-mails a day off. Just don't make spelling mistakes and he should be nice to you :P About Scarlet's Walk?! Wow, I agree, each day I get more and more into the whole thing. I'm developing relationships with all the girls now! Which are words I'd never thought I'd say let alone commit to print *grin* I'm really taken with the (wurly?) bits in Amber Waves when she goes back into the verse, mainly picked these up when I listened under headphones. You need to listen to it under headphones, you can hear so much more! I have had many torgasms when she sings the bit about the northern lights. I am so taken with strange that when I was listening to it yesterday, I almost hopped online to post a quick message to Oztori with the subject line WHEN WILL I LEARN BLUE ISN'T READ EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS basically just to let you all know I was singing it at the top of my lungs shivering with tori delights. Carbon is amazing, didn't somebody mention something about all the "Neil" songs being great? I totally agree. Keep your eyes on her. It is all starting to make more sense, the album as a whole, or at least the story I am picking up on. This song reminds me of Siren with the busy piano, drums, etc. Does the start of Sweet Sangria remind anybody else of God?! Somebody said Your Cloud is a turning point, I agree, but I think that it is probably the second turning point, the first made at Wampum Prayer (which fits perfectly where she is). Dare I say Taxi Ride is the last change of direction? I haven't mentioned how much I love Don't Make Me Come to Vegas. I absolutely adore the opening 10 or 20 seconds of this song. First caught my attention when I put the DVD in. I watched the DVD before listening to the CD ;) OKAY - John mentioned that Scarlet's Walk is like Boys for Pele. I agree! I think I have put my finger on it. Boys and Scarlet are whole stories. At least for me, they both immediately stand out as "I have to put aside 1 hour 20 mins because I have to listen to this from beginning to end". Not saying I haven't done this with other Tori albums, but these two in particular stand out because of their themes. Must play all of them!! Musically I think they are different from each other, but they share an intellectual passion (as opposed to emotional). It doesn't make sense to play the songs in any other order than which they were laid down on the CD. . . but LE, UTP, FtCH & TVAB. . . you can. Thats my forty eight dollars worth. I think there should be more tori posters out there. There is no such thing as bad publicity. And BESIDES, then there are more for us hardcore-secret-stalker-type-fans to paste all over our rooms/temples-of-mass-tori-worship. I got so into this e-mail my Nutri-Grain has gone all soft and squishy hehehehe In relation to the CHARMS. . . is it just me or are all the "sisters" ending up with the STILLETO charm? Roozi, Jules? I find this quite hilarious. *brandishes shoe charm* (nervously waits for Andrew's homo comment *grin*) OH I AM JUST KIDDING! lol fuck, sorry about the length of my e-mail, thanks for reading it if anybody got this far into it. I disagree with whoever you're quoting above there Dan (no I've not read all the oztori e-mail yet.. *such is the business of my life*). I think BFP is actually rather *BORING* after CALS finishes. It then all blurs into a rather undifferentiated mess, where only a few tracks thereafter (Putting the Damage On, Not the Red Baron... *maybe* Talula and Way Down if we are going to stretch things) bare any interest for me. I think BFP is incredibly over-rated. But that's "just" my opinion, folks.. so go count to 10 before you burst a blood vessel or 20 writing some 'how dare you say that?!' response.. I sorta love them all equally except for Amber,Strange,Wampum are slightly less loved.I really like Wampum Prayer.Wouldn't take it off the album myself. I just heard Tombigbee today for the first time.Great sound but the song didn't grab me immediately.
