AMBER WAVES - heard it before, all v nice and fantastic. A SORTA FAIRYTALE - ditto. WEDNESDAY - whooo love it. so catchy. makes you want a cat called cajun on a wednesday. (how many tori fans are now going to buy cats and call them cajun? i swear half the cats in kittydom are probably already called easter!). STRANGE - like it very muchly. CARBON - ditto. CRAZY - oh my god is this brilliant or what!? i love it! and to think i used to skip it on the 6-track sampler thingummy... WAMPUM PRAYER - kinda doesn't fit in but does at the same time. i've a feeling she'll be doing a 97B&C with it and starting the concerts off stage with it or something like that. DON"T MAKE ME COME TO VEGAS - mmm...funky :) SWEET SANGRIA - nice. but i've only listened to it once because i keep skipping it due to the fact that it is before... YOUR CLOUD - which has successfully battered both China and 1000 Oceans to the floor in the "sappiest tackiest most beautiful Tori song ever" stakes. hurrah! kate & cath & rach - if you're next to me when she plays this, make sure you've got an umbrella or something. PANCAKE - mmm...yum I CAN'T SEE NEW YORK - i adore this. all of it. its brilliant. very kate bush. actually the whole album is probably her most kate bush-like work ever. but it still isn't very. my dad thought amber waves was by kate though. MRS JESUS - waaaaaaay better than the sucky title might indicate. TAXI RIDE - we all love this, need i describe in any way? ANOTHER GIRL'S PARADISE - kate said this was her favourite, but it didn't really grab me. SCARLET'S WALK - really really really really like. VIRGINIA - ditto GOLD DUST - *le sigh* THE DVD - vaguely disappointing, but nice nonetheless. the random video footage makes a way better clip than the whole disembodied limb thing that is 'a sorta fairytale' though. THE MAP - i just used it for the lyrics. i know absolutely nothing about US geography so thought "ah yes thats nice" then folded it away. THE STICKERS - so cute, but they really don't fit with the 'mood'. i want to stick them on things around the house. THE PHOTOS - cool. they're photos. of tori. not much else to say. THE BOX - i love the box! THE TRINKET - a starfish, as you all know. i wanted the seal, or the bus. *sigh* i think that australia must have gotten the starfish shipment by the looks of things. i wonder if people will be trading them at tori shows? cool but amazingly useless at the same time. give me a week and i'll have lost it behind some random piece of furniture. OVERALL - i'll let you know once all the shine and sparkle has worn off, but at the moment its one big HURRAH!!! quick wrap up: currently skippable tracks: wampum prayer, sweet sangria, another girl's paradise. currently completely unskippable in any way tracks: your cloud, i can't see new york, crazy, wednesday. A quick analysis of the DVD disc here reveals that it's coded for regions 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 - in other words, everywhere except Europe and Japan. Other useless DVD facts: * There's only about a gigabyte of data on it, * The total length is 13 min 49 sec, * The two clips are encoded at a seriously high average bitrate, for those of you that care about such things (it's due to both the heavy film grain and the use of two uncompressed stereo audio tracks), * The disc is encrypted, * For those of you with Sony players, the DVD is equipped with a "jacket picture" that will display after you hit "stop". * It's also encoded with DVD Text, which spells the title as "Scarlett's Walk" - as does the disc's volume label. Ooops. :) FWIW, I think the content's a bit underwhelming, considering what other recent bonus-DVD releases have offered. Starfish are cool. I got a pencil, dammit. But besides that i'm really loving the new album - v. gald i stayed spoiler free. Was anyone also kind of disappointed with the visuals on the DVD - just tori wandering around giving her serious-concerned-knowlegable gaze into the camera, and the same kind of polaroids already included??? Even the A sorta fairytale vid would have been better. She's scheduled to appear on Letterman on October 29th, which (if Channel 9 keep to their usual policy) should screen here tomorrow (Wednesday) night (or Thursday morning, really) - it's on at 1.10am. Might be a good idea to keep an eye on tonight's show as well, which is on at midnight. On November 2nd Tori's on "NBC Weekend Today", but the bad news is that the Saturday edition of the Today show is the only one which Channel 7 *doesn't* carry in Australia, so we'll miss out on that one. - - Anthony ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Oct 2002 13:41:20 +1000 From: "Bindy ."
