If you like that song, look on your favourite music sharing service (Limewire, Kazaa, whatever) for the live version of it that was recorded for San Francisco radio station 'Alice'. It's on the new 'This is Alice Music vol 6' compilation album, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. (That album also includes a live version of Kasey Chambers' 'Not Pretty Enough' and some other goodies.) Or, for that matter, if anyone wants a copy of this album, email me and we'll work something out. There's a few Paul Kelly singles and albums that I'm still missing, so we can work out a trade. :) /nm ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 02:19:04 +1000 From: "AndrewR" Subject: RE: [oztori] Norah Jones and mp3s > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-oztori@smoe.org [mailto:owner-oztori@smoe.org] On Behalf Of > Shane > Sent: Wednesday, 9 October 2002 11:53 PM > To: 'Oztori' > Subject: Re: [oztori] Norah Jones > > AndrewR wrote: > > I've downloaded the "Don't Know Why" track - I just have a little > > problem that I don't think she actually writes any of her own stuff. > > > > Hmmm, I think you're right. > Didn't notice, I had assumed she would have written them. > Oh well, I still like the CD. > -Shane. Yeah, nothing wrong with it, but its nice if they write it, I feel its more a piece of work by an artist than a factory made item. She might have written the lyrics though, I'll have to check up when I get some time. Funnily enough, I'm the same way with albums, I download mp3s to test them out, and if I like it, I buy it. They are intelligent and philosophical. They usually are quick witted and have a good sense of humour. They enjoy their freedom and have an optimistic view on life. They can be a little too blunt and lack tact in what they say at times. They are restless and don't like to be in the same place too long, which can lead to irresponsibility. They also are aggressive and can be cruel with emotions. ~Bindy - your ozori astrological guru Go to: http://www.livejournal.com/users/cancerian/ for Ramblings From The Moon Child _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 13:00:23 +1000 (EST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Julian=20P?= Subject: [oztori] Kate?? (Sunday or Monday?) I'm supposed to work on Monday, so I'd like to get the CD on Sunday if possible, so I can listen to it all proper like (although missing work on the Monday is tempting). And do the suburban stores put stuff out before the main city store? (My local Sanity, at that shithole that is Top Ryde, blatantly disregards release dates and puts things out as soon as they arrive.) I don't like lawyers as it is. ;-) Isn't there a law that it is acutally illegal for stores to refuse to refund $ - well at least if the 'goods' sold are damaged/don't work, whatever. I have to 'lol' @ their $125 price tag for the UK Crucify single (non-limited version) whoch they claim is "ultra rare". Yeah, under the Trade Practices Act 1975 (Cth), not to mention a whole lot of other similar consumer legislation, they must take back goods that are not fit for the purpose for which they are sold (ie, they are defective or just ineffective). However, in my case, the CD worked fine. It was just a priced too high. There's nothing stopping them charging them more than their competitors. They can pretty much charge whatever fools like me are willing to pay. And, furthermore, since I am buying a US import, and not a domestic release, they can argue that the two products are not the same. A US import might be more valuable to some collectors (and thus worth the extra money) either because the collector is a completist and wants every release or because the collector is impatient, and wants the CD before the domestic release (still a few weeks off). Back in '99, I was happy to pay about $10 extra to get the US import TVAB digipack, when I found out the Aussie master copy had been destroyed in a fire, and the Aussie release had thus been delayed. Oh well, you live, you learn, to be all Alanis about it ... Jules - --------------------------------- Yahoo! And talk about shitty design, I have to click on all the links before I know what's in 'em. And then when I find merchandise, which I'm *dying* to buy cuz my only Tori shirt, once white, has gone grey in the wash and I really need something new... and it's saying, "Check back later."
