Of the select few SW reviews (side note: anyone noticed that "SW" = Sensual World = a Kate Bush album, no?) Firstly, as for the DVD, I posted this link a few days ago: http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=154037 Still, as with everything, I'll believe it when I see it. > First sonymusic.com.au removes their listing for the ASF single from their 'coming soon' section, now chaosmusic.com.au has done the same. Now, the fact that both chaos and sanity had the album image up and not the single had me a little concerned, and that the album was mentioned on that 'new releases' board at one of my local record stores, but not the single, I was also a little concerned. I find it suprising (although should I) that HMV Queen Street Brisbane don't have a little empty CD case with a yellow insert describing the next Tori Album in their Tori section. Why do we always check the Tori sections - even though we KNOW there will be nothing new there! :) Maybe it's how you can judge a good store? If it's a dud - I'll reburn of course. Secondly - Can I have some pointers on burning stuff. Bringing stuff from a CD to the 'puter. best to convert to mp3, no? Otherwise you have a massive file. I tried just flat-out copying a few tracks from a CD the otherday to the 'puter. WMP doesn't recognise their formats!?! Shouldn't they be wav files? OK, if I turn Cd tracks to mp3's what is a good program. Does Nero Burn do this or only in the other direction? Compilations: When doing a compile - is there anyway of 'mixing' the end of one track into the start of the next? Or even fading out to not have a 'raucous' song next to a relatively quite song. My burner is 40x40x12. I can burn (I think - so far it's been ok) at top speed - well 36x with no problems. no buffer underruns etc. Now I'm wondering - if there are any programs running at the same time - can this cause buffer underruns? The thing is - the first two I burnt - I can't remember if I was running any other programs at the same time - i.e. seti@home. With Bindy's Cyndi album - I think I had s@h running. If I can't hear anything wrong - at first listen does that still mean there could be 'tiny' errors going on that I might eventually pick-up if I burn at a fast speed - or am I just getting worried about nothing and just have been listening to too many stories from people who had older systems? I think that's everything at the moment. NP: "Saltwater" - Chicane feat. If you're going to later burn those songs to CD-R, you do not want to go to MP3. MP3 is lossy, and there will be a significant difference in sound quality between the original and what you're burning onto CD-R. > OK, if I turn Cd tracks to mp3's what is a good > program. I was actually thinking more along the lines of "Toodles Mr Jim": "You know he deserved that lump on his head Splattered and swattered, frying pan in my hands Not a nice day for your little boy".. Or Marianne: "Quickest boy hit by the frying pan" ;) Nathan. ===== "They don't expect boys to pretend to be nice, but they do with girls, and I'm not a nice person!" - Siobhan Fahey. _______________________________________________________________________ Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos & More http://faith.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 Oct 2002 12:32:38 +1000 (EST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Julian=20P?= Subject: [oztori] Re: ozfryingpaninducedconcussions Nathan . wrote: >I was actually thinking more along the lines of >"Toodles Mr Jim": >"You know he deserved that lump on his head >Splattered and swattered, frying pan in my hands >Not a nice day for your little boy".. Yes! Excellent! >Or Marianne: >"Quickest boy hit by the frying pan" ;) Lol! Great too! And, of course, you know she wanted to smack Oliver Stone with a frying pan. Tee hee, gotta love the violent undercurrent in Tori's songs. J - --------------------------------- Yahoo! Hahahaa. "Fryingpannings" also looks a little like "frangiapani", I think. "Fryingpannings.. come in! Datura... Get out of my drive way!" (though I was on *his* driveway when it happened). Ha... that's funny cos I once caused havoc as a child, wielding a garden shovel of all things: my neighbour wasn't "giving me ma props" so I took to her with the blunted instrument. And when I say "took to her", I barely touched her with it, but it didn't stop her from crying and running to mummy and getting me grounded for 7-10 days now did it! The incident in question also occurred on the victims driveway. Actually, I think this has more to do with driveways than the actual instrument utilised during the attacks... I don't know. But maybe the forensics could shed a bit of light on that particular subject. Dan. ------------------------------ End of oztori-digest V2 #287 ****************************
