'Bout fucking time. The promotional dep't of Epic Australia (well through Sony here) could do with a remedial lesson or two. > and also smothering Tori > tons with lots of praise. > They played the radio edit (of course). Yes. That edit, although good on its own, really does pale in comparison to the full-length version, doesn't it? Now all we need is Dan Stapleton to rejoin the list and get a JJJ net 50 campaign rolling again. What a spot of luck. Though I have to admit, I wasn't wholly comfortable with them using the names "Alanis" and "Tori" in the same sentence (shudders at the memory of the 5/12 Weeks Tour - I actually stayed for Alanis at one of the shows). They also mentioned Ani.... why couldn't Tori have toured with her gawdamnit? > > They gave it a big intro, saying how > > it was the first time > > ever played in Australia, > > Oh yes, like none of us have heard it before.. *rolls > bloodshot eyes* (er, yes I realise they meant first > time played on *radio*). Yes I think Sony Australia has gone for the "lowest common denominator" approach to promotion thus far, and have exceeded all possible expectations. You know they only posted a news item to their web site just the other day? Even then, they misspelled the album "Scarlett's Walk" and merely linked back to the toriamos.com web site to hear the "exclusive new track". She's not even listed as an artist on the site yet. What's more is they're buggerising around with the single release (yes I know you saw that coming Nayth) and they don't even have a release date listed for it on the site. > > and also smothering Tori > > tons with lots of praise. > > They played the radio edit (of course). > > Yes. That edit, although good on its own, really does > pale in comparison to the full-length version, doesn't > it? Absofrigginlutely. Love that extra verse.... changes the song from a cute love story to something more sinister. It will be interesting to see - if the song does get put on high rotation - whether they'll play the album version as a sorta novelty. e.g. "Here's the never-before-played extended version with the *controversial* extra verse!" > Am I the only one here who gets a slight thrill > whenever I hear Tori sing "feel better with Oliver > Stone till I almost smacked him" in ASF? Actually, the reaction I have whenever I hear that part is to laugh. I wonder where she intended to smack him exactly(?). Either way, I can't imagine she could do much with those tiny hands apart from belting the Bosey. > Now all we need is Dan Stapleton to rejoin the list > and get a JJJ net 50 campaign rolling again. Even if he doesn't return, we should start up a new crusade in his honour. We could call it, "The Li'l Dan Memorial Net 50 Campaign". - -Medium Dan* *Upsize Dan for just 50c more! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 03:00:53 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan "®" Subject: Re: [oztori] Will Triple J play ASF? They are 2 acceptable Alanis & Tori sentences. > Yes I think Sony Australia has gone for the "lowest > common denominator" > approach to promotion thus far, and have exceeded > all possible expectations. > You know they only posted a news item to their web > site just the other day? > Even then, they misspelled the album "Scarlett's > Walk" and merely linked > back to the toriamos.com web site to hear the > "exclusive new track". Yes, and sinister = better than sappy love story. > It will be interesting to see - if the song does get > put on high rotation - > whether they'll play the album version as a sorta > novelty. e.g. "Here's the > never-before-played extended version with the > *controversial* extra verse!" Heheheh. Pity she doesn't 'swear' in the extra verse. That would be cool. What about "we're just motherfuckers in this cunt'ry". > > Am I the only one here who gets a slight thrill > > whenever I hear Tori sing "feel better with Oliver > > Stone till I almost smacked him" in ASF? > > Actually, the reaction I have whenever I hear that > part is to laugh. Very glad to hear that ASF is finally gettting airplay. Sadly I don't know that I can listen to the J's much any more... little ears pick up on the wrong words. :/ X Lavs ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 18:26:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan "®" Subject: [oztori] Tori has officially ran out of ideas Spin article about Tori posted on the Dent http://thedent.com/spin1102.html, where they ask her to bring along 9 records that have inspired her or something. In typical "skating around the truth" fashion, no mention of Kate Bush is made; yet she has not qualms listing the god-awful Elton. Tori lists this as one of the records: THE DOORS THE DOORS (Elektra album, 1967) "Jim Morrison was smuggled into our hourse by my older brother. That's where I got some of my ideas about Lucifer and about recognizing the darkness within. Years ago, I was working with a medicine man, and it was almost as though Lucifer came in a vision and was holding a little cubbyhole that said TORI on it. He was very sad and very bored. And he said, 'I hold the dark. That's what I do. But it's for you to come collect!" Oh *yawn*... Isn't this "I had a cup of tea with Lucifer at my piano" shit what she blabbed on about ad nauseum in the Boys For Pele-era interviews?
