And on that note, I ordered in the Scarlet's Walk limited edition w/ bonus DVD. Now, I'm not stupid enough to think it will work on my DVD player, or will it? Does anyone know if this DVD is region-free? Is it just a DVD ROM? Any help is very much appreciated. ___________________________________________________ Read: http://amber-waves.diaryland.com Visit: http://datura.notsweet.net "I believe in defending in what we once stood for it seems in vogue to be a closet misogynist homophobe a change of course in our direction a dash of truth spread thinly like a flag on a popstar on a benzodiazapene" [Pancake - Tori Amos] - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: Click Here ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 18:25:58 +0800 From: "ennui" Subject: [oztori] 97% Tori Free (~ OFF TOPIC) Okay. if you want to know what making your drive 'region-free' entails see this link: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/region.html I've patched a couple of drives for friends and haven't had one stop working. In any case DVD-ROMs are only worth about $80 now so it's worth a go :) If you want to do this you do WILL have to open your case. You DO have to understand the difference between the primary and secondary IDE channels on your motherboard, and how to set the jumpers on your DVD drive to 'Primary' or 'Slave'. You WILL have to boot into a command line DOS. You SHOULD take each step carefully because flashing a BIOS is an operation that CAN result in an impressive doorstop. If any of that was complete gibberish now might be a wonderful time to learn something new.. or to befriend your neighbourhood technocrat (this need only be done on a temporary basis - they have no real friends, save their computers :P ). Article includes links to software required (some of it is on cover CD). Hmm, I had a quick flip through the mag at the newsagents. Is it only a small article!?! I couldn't find it. Page 150 hmm. (I'm not saying Zac only has a computer as a friend!) :) Why can't they make things like TV shows on DVD region 0... I mean half the things I want to get don't EXIST in Australia/South America (yes we share the same DVD Zone as a continent that's first language is Spanish and/or Portuguese. Who worked out that fucking region thing anyway!?!) Hmmm I might be able to get Teleboobies! :) And what do you mean 97% Tori free - I think it was closer to 100% ;) Andrew (having a ball with KaAzA lite). P.S. This was going to take the place of a separate e-mail but what the hell... has anyone realised how fucking awesome 1992 was as a year in music!?! Yes, there were also duds... hello Tin Lids and Billy Ray Cyrus. I don't know if it's just nostalgia - but I have quite a few fond memories of some of these songs, look here: http://www.onmc.iinet.net.au/arch/1992.htm Andrew ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 05:21:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan "®" Subject: Re: [oztori] On-again off-again ASF single Julian P wrote: > Sony Music Australia had the ASF single listed for > Australian release on 14 October 2002 on their > website. Reminiscent of Raspberry Swirl UK, Jackie's Strength UK, Strange Little Girl anywhere singles? Sony are doing a damn fine job at living up to Atlantic's "standards" thusfar.
