That's interesting. Simply b/c Epic have been sooooooo fooking "hush, hush" (to phonemically paraph(r)ase a Paula Abdul tune of yesteryear) about anything SW thusfar. Will there be "exclusive" album tasters, or will it just (as cynical I suspect) be the 6 songs that have already 'leaked'? 'tseems awful early for ppl to be having full promos of the album. In any case, there are only about 3 "Melbournites" left on this list (well, not including spooky lurkers)?? However, with the nature of the list, the actual origin of the messages is being lost. Anyway, yes there are no attachements coming through so no one is going to get infected by reading strange Oztori emails. It's been a while since I read up on this, but Klez gets it's addresses from within messages in the email program, thus if anyone has stored messages from the list, and you have posts in them, then the virus can pretend that it is sending messages from you. Which is how you get the bizarre situation of appearing to get messages from yourself. So the messages aren't coming from Andrew or Julian just because it has their email username in the from field, it's more likely to be from a third party. [you can scroll the next bit unless your interested in viruses (and want to read my tragic story)] That said, we appeared to get an email from Rachel that was a little wierd - I can't even remember now if I thought it was klez, but since noone has emailed saying 'hey, you have a virus', I assume it didn't). Yes, it actually got dowloaded because our Norton trial ran out and we hadn't done anything about getting another anti-virus program. Glenn was on the computer at the time and says the message opened by itself (which I find strange, but anyway......) So then I go and get McAfee, do a scan and it apparently fixed the old problem of kak (which wasn't doing anything, so we didn't worry about it). That is until I went to reboot the computer. It's then Glenn tells me that Norton said the autoexec.bat file could not be fixed without being screwed. And of course the computer wouldn't boot normally... so after saving everything I wanted to keep to D drive (thank smeg for a partitioned hard drive!!!), and numerous attempts to get things working again, we had to reformat C drive and reinstall Windows. Which is all well and go as we have a functioning computer again, but getting all our old programs back (we we don't ahve one piece of legitimate software) is a pain in the arse, and my 600+ fonts got wiped off D drive for some very bizarre reason so that they were all the same as what was installed on C drive!!! That's the only bit I want to cry about, I just wish I could track down OE5 again, and hopefully get all my old messages and address book back. [stop scrolling now] Daniel, as the list admin I think you should be a bit more up on the virus situation so you don't go unnecessarily accusing members of stuff. Unfortunately we can't know from our end who the messages are actually from, so perhaps everyone onlist needs to at least get a trial version of an anti-virus program and give their computers a once over. Everyone, go read Symantec, and back up your programs and important files!!!
