OK, the rumour emantating from Sanity that Tori might tour could have something to do with theWarner/Atlantic reps they were getting their info from. I once knew a Tori fan who worked at Sanity kept getting possitive info from the rep regarding Tori's tour. But considering it was just the Sept before (well, Oct for us) that TVAB had been released, I'd say that the Sanity people just hadn't updated their info. I think it is a function of (a) relatively poor production, due to the shoestring budget that LE was made on; and (b) Tori's (relative) inexperience at being a recording artist (as opposed to a performing artist). Many episodes of each incarnation of the show have focussed on characters having relationships/sexual encounters (even though they may have stopped short of showing the characters actually going at it) (even Data got some action ... twice!!) ... and all but the one instance mentioned involved heterosexual relationships. OK, I see what you mean, but it'd have to be done in a way as to not sensationalise it... The whole Jadzia/Lenarah thing was because they were TRILL - it was part of the storyline (i.e. it was a plot contrivence to allow an episode that addressed homosexuality (remember there was also "The Outcast" TNG season 5. If there was a gay character he/she could NOT be a token gay character - i.e. everything revolves around them being a gay person... cause the riker/bashir/paris thing can be taken to a certain extent... but when it's all boiled down Riker is XO, Bashir is Doc extrodinairre and Paris is/was a rebellious little pilot. So if a character was a gay character, It would have to be secondary to the character otherwise the character becomes a token gay character... i.e. the Mr. Humphries of outer-space! :) "Picard to Lt. Humphries" "I'm free!" :) Also with Uhura even though it was a BIG issue having a BLACK WOMAN in a position of importance/power... Her lines and her presence was never a case of her being there cause she's a black woman, it was because she was the BEST in her field. She just happened to be a Black Woman. The more I was TOS the more I am inspired by Uhura, sure she didn't get any episodes to herself (the only one to apart from Kirk, Spock and McCoy was ONE episode with Scotty). The ONE TIME I wanted them to Thats the kinda story that makes me want to be continually listening to Pele when I get off the bus just in case that happens. Hurrah! I'm tired and have been wangling the one f*cking beth orton video out of this computer all day and have an ingrown toenail and i'm going to go and whinge somewhere else now. And I'm playing Pokemon again - my Mareep just evolved into a Flaaffy. How stupid are these names - its CLEARLY Japanese. But judge me as you will I'm going to sleep. xo Dan (possibly delirious) ===== And I'm so sad like a good book I can't put this Day Back a sorta fairytale with you Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 13:17:38 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Daniel?= Subject: Re: [oztori] selective reply-itis > My two faves off the LE studio are Leather > and Mother ... both of which have less 'production' > and are more 'performative'. While I'm not 'dissing' LE in any way - I really like it - if it was more produced then maybe I'd listen to it more. But then, for me, the rawness and lack of production has become part of the album to me. Whatever. But I think, with the right producer, or a remix, or something, "Tear In Your Hand" could have been her big pop-celine-dion-number that "1000 Oceans" turned out not to be. I think I might go and listen to LE now, you've put me in the mood. xo Dan ===== And I'm so sad like a good book I can't put this Day Back a sorta fairytale with you Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 23:09:43 +1000 From: "cåth ." They got halfway up the stairs, heard the chorus, then ran back down the stairs and across the yard.
