However if you choose the shallow over the >meaningful, I would not be entirely suprised... :) thats nonsense... making something disco-ish doesn't take away its heart and soul. plus its not like they burnt all the copies of the original... it is still intact. the genius of the psb is their way of making disoc/pop confections that actually say something and their use of WTSHNN in a mdeley with "can't take my eyes off of you" serves as a bridging of the gap bewtween rock and pop, between manilow and u2...and as such its completely adorable. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jun 2002 23:35:44 -0700 (PDT) From: "Too Much" <2much@elvis.com> Subject: [oztori] where the streets have no name Since my U2 obsession is well-known here & Roozi finds them "over-rated", then I fear that this debate will be rather predictable, however.... From this viewpoint, I found PSB's trivialisation of a song charged with emotion quite offensive, & if they were aiming to bridge the gap between dance & rock, I'm afraid I thought they were just jerking off. This is one of those rare occassions when I find myself preferring the emotional to the intellectual. I'm actually quite partial to some of PSB's work, but I'm always very critical of anyone who attempts to cover a U2 song because the original is filled with so much meaning for me.
