OK, I'm just back from town where I bought 6 albums!! HMV are having a great sale (which I didn't even pay attention to until like I was nearly ready to go - cause I saw LE and SLG there - and I don't actually have a normal 'album' copy of LE - but the double LE/UTP. Anyway it's a 3 CD's for $45 sale. So I bought 6 $30.95 albums for 90 bucks. I had to whittle id down from 12 - plus there was probably another lot of '3' that I could buy. I was running from one stack to the next! I found Lamb and What Sound by Lamb - which I have been wating forever to drop in price - and I get them in the sale (I couldn't see "Fear of Fours" though). I also got the Corrs - shut-up - hey I've met them all twice... The Joshu Tree, Achtung Baby, and Jeff Buckley live at L'Olympia. I still want to get more - but I can't for a bit. Just thought I'd let you people know. You could always get the other 'versions' of SLG in the group of 3. I saw "The Downward Spiral" There - I have only bought one NIN single so far - is this a good album to start with? Is this the one with "Closer" on it? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Jun 2002 01:33:17 -0700 (PDT) From: "Too Much" <2much@elvis.com> Subject: Re: [oztori] Great CD sale!! SLG anyone? But I can't say anything nice about the others I'm afraid. (I used to like Jeff Buckley BEFORE he died...) > Just thought I'd let you people know. Is this the one with "Closer" on > it? Yes it is, to both counts. At least it's the one I started with. But I think Closer is overrated--it's a great track, but Trent's done some even greater ones. With your tastes, though, I'd start out with his first album "Pretty Hate Machine"--less industrial, more dance. Or for a complete shock try "Broken." Same, and the only reason I dropped it in favour of The Fragile for a while was because I listened to it to death. Usually I'll listen to something till I can't listen to it any more, then move onto something else for a while; eventually I can listen to it again, in a way that's a little less fanatical. The Downward Spiral never quite got back to that point, and I'm not sure why -- probably that I listened to it throughout a year that I was utterly fucking miserable, so there are associations? It sits on my bedside table, amongst my favourites, but every time I try to listen to it there's this wall. Even so, I'm gonna go with e. on this one -- there's some good stuff on the first disc of The Fragile (the second disk is a bit blah), but The Downward Spiral is better. Yep. Full-time lurkers. Agreeed. 2) What age do you hope you live to? 69 :-) 3) Tell us something you're *really* crap at. Writing less than 3 livejournal entries a day. Tolerating stupid people. I may be polite....but inside..... 4) What do you estimate the average IQ to be of people on this list (mean = 100, standard deviation = 15) Well, my IQ is rougly 230, so aboot that. (140) 5) The SINGLE most embarrassing single/album/CD/cassette in your possession is: I'm actually buying East 17 in a couple of days. 6) Can Kylie Minogue sing? Course she can. She rocks. 7) Has Tori run out of ideas musically? Yes. 8) Is Nayth washed up? I agree. Very sexually frustrated. As is David. :-) 9) Is this list past its heyday? Not quite yet, but soon maybe. 10) Anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself? I never quite realised the delights of East 17 until I went to a party last night, and now I so do. *sings west end girls, running away* Pam _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 09 Jun 2002 13:06:01 +1000 From: "Pamela Collom" Subject: Re: [oztori] Great CD sale!! Or for a complete shock try "Broken." I agree with this. My recommended listening order, is Pretty Hate Machine Broken Fixed Downward Spiral Fragile and then go to the other halo's. Trent's soundtrack work is good too. I especially recommend Lost Highway. And after Lost Highway, you may very well get addicted to Barry Adamson, Angelo Badalamenti and all the rest. :-) 2 crap cents from me.
