OK I've refrained from asking this question up till now, but where TF exactly is "the Valley"? What kind of a place is called "the Valley"? It sound like some dumb Home & Away type place - ie, "the City", "the Diner" etc. - you know, those 'we don't really have a shred of originality left in our miniscule brains, so we'll just add the definite article "the" in front of it instead' things. > Thought you'd like to know. So, working on the assumption of the $28.95 price tag (what foolish moi actually paid for it x4), that works out at about $7.16 worth of value. Therefore it still doesn't warrant the $7.95 price-tag IMNSHO ;) Nathan. . "The Valley" Is a suburb between the City and New Farm called "Fortitude Valley". In the 50's it was a suburban shopping mecca, in the Eighties it was a sex/drug/sleeze/corrupt policemen hang-out in the late nineties it was a major 'alternative' hang out and in the new century it is slowly turning into a majorly thirty-something "trendy" coffee district (still grungy coffee district - not plastic like Park Road.) > > >> Thought you'd like to know. > >Thanks, but no thanks :) > > >Nathan. > >. >Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup >http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jun 2002 10:10:21 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Daniel?= Subject: Re: [oztori] eep! --- Jonceski Jasmina wrote: > > > anyone else who emails me their address will be > mailed > > something - offer closes the end of the week! > > I trust this offer is for real? > I'm always up for receiving things ;) no word until it arrives on what it actually is, but each person who sends me their address will get something...kinda like a free lucky dip :) xoxo dan ===== I have a fish nailed to a cross on my apartment wall It sings to me with glassy eyes and quotes from Kafka Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 Jun 2002 02:22:38 -0700 (PDT) From: "Too Much" <2much@elvis.com> Subject: [oztori] #oztori I am there right now (7:22PM EST). I'd say New Farm is closer to being that, than the valley. Though, being right next door to each other (and hence where all the gay New Farm people might shop, I suppose.... lol), the valley's pretty similar. The valley being that bit more grungy/alternative (though as Andrew noted, it's being given a "funky" makeover as people start moving into urban apartments, which are going up all over the valley and city), it's not associated so much with the gay crowd as trendy New Farm is, where I've had to warn friends shopping in the supermarket there not to carry single bananas, single lemons, etc, in their baskets because of certain, uh, conventions. ;) All the gay nightclubs are in the valley. But then again, so are all the "good raves", I hear (as if there is such a thing), so you can see the evolution of alternative/minority mecca to rich, trendy 20-somethings' livingspace/hangout. But ain't it happening everywhere? :/ ~Becc :) - -- www.crappism.org ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jun 2002 04:03:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan R Subject: [oztori] Cheap YKTR Ha ha you wish!
