It was also when I was a horny (& dare I say very blokey) adolescent easily amused by tits & bum jokes (yes, yes, I know that's not all that MP's about, but it is the majority of their stuff). Not only that, I was "enjoying" the homophobic reaction of most of my fellow high school students to my involuntary "outing" as a result of my involvement in a "sex scandal" in year 8, so I was hardly "cool" nor attempting to be--most of my peers couldn't care less what "the freak" found amusing. The reason I don't find it funny is that I've simply heard it too many times before. Like any joke, no matter how good, once it's been told for the hundreth time it tends to lose its appeal. > > use-by date, irrelevant, & redundant. They were clearing having a go at the class & social structure of Britain of the time in many (if not most) of their sketches. (e.g. Upper Class Twits, the "One" Sketch, Gumbys, etc.) Even their more surreal stuff was pretty standard for the late 60s & early 70s (those were changin' times). > > for you (& the rest of the MP-quoting geek world) > > Since when do all MP fans quote it? Even the best things, when repeated to that degree, make one sick. :) > There are more. I'm bored of lists. > So having done a worthwhile & interesting activity once, you're already "bored" with it. Maybe now you can understand why I am so bored of the MP scripts I've been over-exposed to. To summarise my argument: yes, MP was originally funny, but the more I hear/see it, the more I'm bored with it. Doubtless if nobody was to discuss MP for several years I would find it hilarious again. So MP fans should do the rest of us a favour & keep their precious python to themselves. :) E.
