Neverwhere is a fantastic book by Neil about London Below, and is where the Velvets from 'Hotel' come from. I too have heard that a tv series was made of it, and I guess like the HHGG one it was crap (though not having seen it I have no idea if for the same reasons). I wish a decent proper movie was made of it, it'd be awesome. There was initially talk of Tori working on the soundtrack to the radio series for it (which never made the light of day apparently. Maybe Pratchett-style humour only appeals to a certain type of person (& I am of that type) but I actually found the blend of TP & NG most palatable. I particularly admired the demon-angel pair of characters, & would go so far as to say the angel particularly reminds me of certain members of this list. :) If I had to sing a Tori song (which might be possible, I can play the piano vaguely & I have been known to lipsynch along to tapes in my Walkperson) I would probably chose Professional Widow because of its lyrical content. (Hey, that's an idea, I could even cop out & do the dreaded remix to a drum machine...) Now, I have a question I've just thought of for the Neil fans here: do you really think Delirium is based on Tori? Or are the Tori-and-Neil fans just projecting like AndrewR :) (For the Neil fans who haven't read the Sandman, get your act together. *grin*) E: attractive, available, and on IRC sometime soonish. From the little I've read, I think Gaiman is great (I've yet to read any Sandman stuff, due simply to a general lack in the financial department. Nina's gonna lend me something, arncha Nina?), but have never read any other Pratchett, so couldn't really say. What I do know is that I found Gaiman's stuff great except when he wrote in tandem with Pratchett. Maybe it's just the collaboration that didn't work for me. I wouldn't rate it on a par with some of the Sandman or American Gods, but I'd say it's about equal to Neverwhere. Maybe it's just the collaboration > that didn't work for me. Mucho amusement! *evil grin* > I'm hardly a "loyal fan" of Pratchett (I was just defending a book I had rather enjoyed). His humour runs along Monty Python veins & works in a similar way (funny if you're in the mood for it, not really ground-breaking & can get old). Anyway... E. "You must be true to yourself. Never was a Monty Python girl, either. Barely crack a smile during the movies, *although*, I do manage to find a fair amusement watching people sitting around quoting from the damned things. In its day I think it had a certain shock value & it is still quite interesting as a cultural/historical source. Or maybe it's just *too* popular (most people are aware of the "best" parts of Monty Python even if they haven't watched it, so when one does finally watch it, the jokes are spoiled.) I'd like to hear Roozi's (well, anyone's) opinion on "Monty Python: Classic Comedy or Adolescent Obsolete", if I may. :) E. "You must be true to yourself.
