GOD it is *awful*! Awright, who wants to hold him while I hit him? ;) Yes, it's true, I must admit to having gone from being a hmm-I-dunno-about-that-Kasey-Chambers-chick person to really liking (at least) this song. Borrowed the album from my parents and there's a bit of stuff on there that goes beyond my ability to stomach (am just not a country fan), but there are a few not-bad ones on it as well. 'Not Pretty Enough' is by far my fave, though; there's just something about it. Keep in mind, Nayth, that it's not a love song - -- it's her singing to the radio stations who kept ignoring her in favour of playing Britney Spears. Annnd, it turns out (I chanced upon a doco about her the other weekend, okay?) that 'The Captain' was sung as a kind of role reversal thing to someone who was always taking a spot in the background to her... so I've let that one (which I'd always thought was weak and pathetic) off the hook too. My mother got all excited when I asked to borrow 'Barricades and Brickwalls', thinking I'd finally come to my sense and was becoming a country fan. *snort* ~Becc :) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 07:54:36 +1000 (EST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Dylan=20Plant?= Subject: [oztori] Evilness /delurk Hee, hee, hee...I'm %51 Evil...apprently I'm just over the edge into the evil zone...hmmm...Nayth, what was ur score? %100? Until about 2 or 3 years ago, I was absolutely convinced I was male despite my XX genes. I got myself diagnosed as an FtM transsexual ("transman") & would have gone through with changing my body to suit my state of mind, but mysteriously found myself unable to commit myself to the permanent changes of testosterone & eventually reconciled myself to my physical "womanliness". Ah.. and here I think I see what Roozi was talking about - I'm white and 20something, Nirvana never redefined me. I thought they were crap when I first heard them. The influence they had was to give the media something right on the cusp of two disparate musical worlds, so that all the writers at Rolling Stone and the other lame music magazines could go "look. this is what good music is - kind of alternative, kind of not". It's a big leap to say that either band actually influenced a whole generation, they simply incorporated some aspects of what was going on in the lesser-known musical world into their own style. Both bands were good at what they did, but they were never the be-all and end-all of music... "you thought that you were the bomb, yes well I didn't" :) I should disclose at this time that I only managed a '9% evil' rating - I'm sure my views now hold little sway on this list. :) ennui [ ~angel~ ] _ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 May 2002 15:56:22 +1000 From: "Lavenda" Subject: Re: [oztori] [ozreplies] > I could say a lot more about this, but this doesn't seem quite the place. :) The chat last night probably was! and yes we did talk about masturbation: http://www.nmt.edu/~bonnie/spank.html this one is also worth a 'shot' http://www.devin.com/penisspam/ X Lavs (Lavenda 1, primary adjunct of dominatrix Glenn) ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ Who could ever say you're not simply wonderful - 'Merman', Tori Amos ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ ~^^~ http://www.freewebz.com/tiarna/start.html - Tiarna's Homepage http://www.freewebz.com/drifts/start.html - Drifts Get Deeper ------------------------------ End of oztori-digest V2 #135 ****************************
