And I'm needing someone to come with me to her sydney show this Wednesday...*sigh* Although, when I saw her, it was just a free "showcase" kinda thing - more or less Danielle karaoke - - her keys and vox and a big backing tape. So it sounded more or less like the album, which was kind of a bummer but if you get the chance to talk to her, do! She is really nice! Are you going to go see her li? I believe she's now touring with some sort of band backing her and, from all reports i've heard of her performing with band in the US, she's pretty good! xoxo Dan ===== I have a fish nailed to a cross on my apartment wall It sings to me with glassy eyes and quotes from Kafka Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 18:51:20 +1000 From: "Divine Miss M" Subject: Re: [oztori] re: Danielle Spencer >I have! Where is she playing? is it going to be an acoustic set again, or with the backing tape? if its with the backing tape, i'm not as keen. Hey, we could make an oztori night of it! Hmmm - might be bit big for my inbox - although the lack of oztori e-mails might make a bit of room... we could meet in #oztori and send it over irc... or have you got web-space? You could stick it up at one of those online file-storage thingies!?! Thanks. The record company have always wanted Fear of Pop vol II (god knows why, it sold maybe one copy - mine), and folds has always said he would like to 'sometime' do vol II... (he never will is my prediction) as for william shatner, he was only on 2 tracks (and one was only 30seconds long). As for the Conan O'Brien apperance (which I also have on tape) - the highlight was *NOT* shatner, but Flemming (from Fleming & John) - the chick with the birdnest in her hair and who (like always) looked FANTASTIC. and sounded gorgeous as usual. Flemming is also featured on the Luckiest (the last track of Rockin' The Suburbs). John (from flemming and john) did the string arrangements & conducting on Reinhold Messner (their best album IMO), Fear of Pop AND Rockin' the Suburbs. As for promotion of the album... HA!!! - there was none. the conan appearnace was the one and only performance, and there was never a single. (spencer was the only guy on JJJ to play anything from the album, and it was In Love... though he did play it on the day of release... i was very happy :) Do you remember that conan kept ignoring folds and just talking to shatner, and shatner was going 'why don't you ask ben' type of thing :) Was funny... though i *can* understand conan's reasoning.... shatner was a big influence on him :) Oh, and finally, Frally (his wife) was also featured on Fear Of Pop as the 'screaming woman'. Oh, and she is *also* featured on Gone on rockin' the suburbs. Ahhhhhh.... also, just back from The Royal Tenenbaums. my GAWD it was THE most boring film... EVER!!!!!!! but i stayed till the very end... i was about to walk out, but all i could hear in my head was "I've paid my money, and i will not be screwed, i see people leaving early.. they don't know what they're missing... they're missing half the movie!!!" (which is from the track "I've Paid My Money", on Fear Of Pop volI. - -- Miss M ~ cosmicfabulosity@hotmail.com - ------------------------------------------------ Too wack, too smart, too fast, too fine, too loud, too tough, too too DIVINE. - ------------------------------------------------ _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 22:43:28 +0800 From: "ennui" Subject: RE: [oztori] Re: Ben Folds `lo Somebody (yes, that infamous 'somebody') told me Ben Folds has moved to Adelaide.
