OK *Nayth goes off on tangential rant here*... You know what I really hate - when people talk of Aboriginal "PEOPLES". For chrissakes, 'people' is already (an irregular) plural - you don't fricking need to add another plural marker to it! It's like saying.. "I have two feets" or "I have two pet mices". I'm sure you've heard the old comparison about some other language having hundreds of words for "love". I think I read about another place that has hundreds of words for "snow". I guess we don't need as many because we don't have as much snow, or as much depending on our ability to identify different kinds of snow. The lack of "love" words could mean we're also not gettin' much lovin', or it could just mean we've got a shit language. ;) >*prepares a noose for you* OMG you just committed the >exact same crime! Allow me to slip it around my own neck, then. Maybe other cultures have different, more grammatically correct words to take the place of "peoples", and "peoples" is the closest thing we can come up with. If they think there's a distinction to be made between their tribe and other tribes, who am I to say otherwise? We refer to our culture as people, but our culture is practically taking over the world so we can afford to try to include everyone on the world in that definition. I don't know if they all want to be so I'm not going to make the assumption. A friend of mine bought a book about her once, which I read and it wasn't able to say anything either way (though I'm sure it wanted to. What I do remember hearing/reading somewhere 'round about the time that I read my friend's book is that her brother (Buddy, I think was his name. When a friend who likes Kylie Minogue (*gasp*) ever-so-kindly informed me of the titles of the (then) upcoming "Fever" album, I was like... they sound like she/her writers spent about 0.2 seconds and wrote down the first thing that came into their minds, eg: Your Love Dancefloor More More More Fever Love at First Sight In fact I thought they were 'fake' since they sounded so simple.
