The 38 year old singer-songwriter, famous for her sensual and provocative piano stool-fucking and piglet-suckling, has been charged with threatening to burn East West Records' Australian headquarters, and defaming a Victorian police officer. Australian police officials have been hunting the flame-haired singer down since July 1998, when Amos enticed her fan-base to "put heat" under East West Records on air on a JJJ interview with King Dicksmill. "We think it's highly irresponsible for an adult-contemporary pop star with such devoted, psychotic fans to entice the act of arson," said Chief Inspector Christine Nixon (?), best known for passing the bill for police officers to wear their uniforms to a gay march in Victoria this year. "Tori's had it in for me for some time," said Christine. "On her last album (Strange Little Girls) she even went so far as to abandon all musical decency, to conveniently construct a 'concept album' of covering men's songs, so she could personally attack me through the lyrics 'You can wear the uniform and I could play along' on the song 'Real Men'," Christine was also quoted as saying. Christine also suggested that a photo depicting Amos dressed in an androgynous manner appearing in the album sleeve of 'Strange Little Girls' was also a disguised attack on her lesbianity. A 21 year old man in Sydney, Daniel Gee, head of an Australian Tori Amos psychotic fan e-mail list, has also been taken into custody for questioning. Police are investigating whether Gee is responsbile for distributing Tori's arson-inspiring message to fans: "If you want me to come (to Australia), give East West a call and put heat under them", through burning copies of the interview onto CD and distributing them amongst rabid, obsessive fans. Triple J discjockey, King Dicksmill, has also filed a suit against Gee, claiming that he owns exclusive rights to the recordings. Dicksmill is also suing [sp?] Gee for defamation, claiming that the interview makes him look stupid, and he would have liked the interview to be kept under tight wraps. Gee is claiming in his defence, "Well it doesn't take much to rip Dicksmill's intelligence into pieces." Following an airing of the interview on JJJ on July 16, 1998, East West Records Australia have been forced to guard their headquarters, fearing that devotees of the flame-haired singer might have some flame-haired ideas about setting alight their premises in order to get her here. Ironically, almost 4 years later, Amos *has* been brought back to Australia, finally - although perhaps the only tunes she'll be playing for fans this time will be 'Can I Get A Witness' and 'Jailhouse Rock'. Officials in Iona arrested Amos and have extradited her to Australia, using a plane originally intended for the late Christopher Skase [sp?]. The special plane has been arranged, as Amos has a jaw deformity which would risk her health if she were to fly via the usual route. Given the increase in security since September 11, air security officials were also reluctant to just say 'yes' to a suspected little arsonist to fly on their planes. Authorities were also alarmed with the lyrical content of her songs Not the Red Baron ("just another pilot down") and Spring Haze ("in a single engine Cessna you say we'll never make it there") - futher cementing their decision to not let her fly on a commercial route. Amos was sedated by officials on the flight, for fear she may try to 'hump' the seats on the plane as she frequently does with her piano stool, causing significant air turbulence in the process. It's the first time Amos has graced our shores since December 1994. Suspiciously, she has avoided touring here since. A spokesman for Amos has refused to make comment regarding the incident to the media. Amos herself, however, has spoken at will to authorities, although they are having difficulty deciphering the meaning of what she is actually trying to say. Amos is well known for speaking in highly cryptic metaphors, and police officials have hired in expert lyric decipherers to make sense of her innane ramblings. A psychiatric evaluation of Amos has also been recommended prior to court proceedings. Considerable evidence incriminating Amos with the arson allegations has been drawn from her back-catalogue of music releases. Amongst her repertoire of songs are titles, "I'm On Fire", "Fire on the Side", "Spark" and "Caught A Lite (alight) Sneeze". Her songs also contain the lyrics: - -"just say yes, you little arsonist" - -"but you've never seen fire until you've seen Pele blow" - -"taking them into the flames" - -"hair is grey and the fires are burning". The last line is believed to be referring to the big-wigs at East West, whose hair is grey. Her third solo album, 1996's "Boys For Pele", featured a picture of Amos amongst flames, and with her piano set alight. The sleeve also contained the 'East West' symbol on it on the Australian pressings - adding further suspicion that Amos has had a 'heated' relationship with her now former record company for some time. Incidentally, Amos parted from East West (Atlantic records in the USA) last year. "Her last album didn't exactly set the charts on fire," said a spokesman for East West who wishes to remain anonymous. "The only thing Amos has ever threatened to heat up is our premises." East West reveal that they took unusual precautions to keep their headquarters from being burnt - including withdrawing the release of several Amos CD singles - instead storing the pressed copies within their premises in the hope that fans would think twice before taking to their buildings with a match. When questioned why it has taken so long to arrest and convict Amos, Australian police officials explain that Amos is a hard woman to track down. "She appeared as 13 completely different-appearing women on her last album alone," said police. "Plus she frequently moves from city to city touring." When questioned by our reporter, Amos said, "I've got nothing to say to you guys except gimme peace, love, and a hard cop." Amos is due to appear in court on April 15th for enticing arson and defamation of a police officer. - ------------------------------------------------------ . Yahoo!
