If you get a chance >Nayth, check it out...I know you have a busy schedule an' all.... Actually, Professor Tolkien worked on the Oxford English Dictionary for two years from 1919. Speaking of Tolkien... I've just waded through about 100+ e-mails and noticed that the LOTR meet seemed to go ahead... oh and Nina, I got your message on my phone... on Sunday! (2 days too late) Sorry. So what happened? It seemed to have taken on a life of its own... Friday (obviously) wasn't a good day... and only found out anything had happened - on Sunday, when I got my copious amounts of e-mail... most of it fekking spam. It was quite a historic day... I got so sick of my mail program crashing - and taking it for ever to rebuild tables (I'm sure there is some spam that has a nasty trick of doing this)... that I deleted nearly 10,000 e-mails! LOL! YES that many... (Most) of the e-mails from oztori since 1999. Anyway, I went and saw the Lord of the Rings myself on Sunday... OMG This movie is so brilliant. How it didn't get 'Best Picture' is beyond me. Look, A Beautiful Mind was a good movie but it wasn't the BEST PICTURE. I would have given that to Moulin Rouge before ABM. Stupid patriotic Americans. I understand about Ron Howard getting his oscar (finally) - although it was too... 'put on'... he should have received one LONG ago. And more than one. Infact he most definately should have recieved an oscar for Apollo 13.] Talking about stupid Patriotic Americans... (sorry Naydene) ok Stupid Patriotic American Academy Members... there were a few other oscars I would have given to tLotR. One some mightent think much about - but Best SOUND... there was some amazing aural experiences to be undertaken in that movie. From the stretching of Haldir and co.'s bows in the eaves of Lothlorien, to the 'vooooooom' low noises when Sauron was 'destroyed' at the beginning in the "Last alliance of Elves and Men". Even little things like Frodo's wimpering at trying not to put the ring on in the Prancing Pony!! The little things. BUT of course sweet patriotism had to shine through with the universally disdained "Pearl Harbor" getting some awards... one of them being 'best sound'. OK enough Oscar bitching. Anyway, I recommend seeing the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring again just for the 'preview' of The Two Towers - I was blown away... I'm soooooooooo looking forward to Christmas! Oh another 'Oscars' bitch - Amelie should have received "Best Foreign Film". About the 'rock chick' thing... maybe someone should do one of those with a 'which SLG girl are you'?
