There are more than 5 people on the list. So, 4 people out of (thinks what the oztori population could be..) 40 (you'd be surprised by the fact that i have had some strange replies from people i never knew existed...) is not the majority. But people will always whine and let them. But I think we really should make an effort not to be too careless in what we write on this list. Like some of the replies I just sifted through had me bedazzled. (i just went through about 70 emails in no order because they were totally out of order in my inbox.) Perhaps my bewilderment was due to the chaotic order but I'm not too sure, it could have also been the uselessness of the one-liners *shrug* But to just add something to Dan G's post - when you are replying to something please cut out all the useless stuff in the email you are replying to, that makes it SO annoying, especially for those on digest. Only include what is relevant to your reply. Her vocals come out deeper and sound colder/harsher. As an example I'll use the West Palm Beach show - 09/28/01. In "Things Fall Down" her vocals are beautiful - soft, gentle, sweet. Perhaps this is because it is an improvisation that she is putting more thought into it and therefore more heart-felt and she isn't 'just churning out the songs'. I think most of the album, StrangeLittleGirls has this feel to it. Does anyone have any comments? Do you agree? Disagree? Discuss... Jas - who seems to be posting an awful lot this evening... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Mar 2002 00:09:12 -0800 (PST) From: Nathan R Subject: Re: [oztori] StrangeLittleGirls Jonceski Jasmina wrote: > Let's have a completley on-topic post for once :P If we must... > Recently, quite evident with the StrangeLittleGirls > album, if you > listen to her vocals it seems that Tori isn't trying > to sing as much as > she used to. YES at last somebody here agrees with me. > Her vocals come out deeper and sound > colder/harsher. Yeah, like she's been smoking 40 cigarettes a day since the last album. > As an example I'll use the West Palm Beach show - > 09/28/01. In "Things > Fall Down" her vocals are beautiful - soft, gentle, > sweet. Vocals to the improv - agreed 'beautiful'. Lyrics to the improv - totally shit & cringe-worthy ("sometimes things fall down" - gawd Britney could have done better). > Perhaps this > is because it is an improvisation that she is > putting more thought into > it and therefore more heart-felt and she isn't 'just > churning out the > songs'. > I think most of the album, StrangeLittleGirls has > this feel to it. > Does anyone have any comments? > Do you agree? Disagree? 'Whole-heartedly' agree. eg. on Time she sounds so drab and half-asleep.. which I think actually kinda suits that song... but she's like that on EVERY fricking SLG song just about. Although the live performance of Time she did on some show (Letterman?) was f-ing brilliant vocally. Why couldn't she dun as gooda job in the studio? > Discuss... I never listen to SLG in its entirety. Just chuck it on occasionally and play 1 or 2 songs - usually Real Men, Rattlesnakes, and Time. Raining Blood occasionally. The album as a whole is boring musically, and especially vocally, IMNSHO. "Only Women Bleed" is vocally the worst song she has committed to record (well CD) IMNSHO. Sounds like she's singing under anaestheic. Funny how the 'critics' lapped SLG up. Nathan. . Try FREE Yahoo!
