Also people who say they're 'just popping down to the deli', and are never seen again - or are seen subsequently, in a park, under a tree, stuffing themself sick with Starburst jellies, and not offering any to the less fortunate, who actually have to go and buy the toilet paper, and the bread, that the other person, who mysteriously disappeared, was supposed to be getting. ennui [ Ext: ] _ . I remember doing "Lean on Me" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". I think it was in that book, but there was this one song I remember called "An Elephant Sat On My Gemini". It was done to the tune of a popular song (don't ask me the name of it, this IS going back almost 20 yrs). Bloody strange song about a car getting squashed. Speaking of The Neverending Story, I want the aurin! Two snakes ... Double Serpent ... I want!! Akte - --- What a difference 14 Years Makes Do you remember this?? It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they played an old news video of Lt. Col Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration. There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning! He was being drilled by some senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?" Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir." The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience," Isn't that just a little excessive?" "No, sir," continued Ollie. "No? And why not?" the senator asked. "Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir" "Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned. "By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered. "Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?" "His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied. At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. "Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked. "Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered. "And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator. "Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth." The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip. (If anyone is interested, the senator was none other than Al Gore.) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Jan 2002 17:56:24 +1100 From: "Dylan Plant" Subject: RE: [oztori] Nathan's address - - in other news, i finally bought the cd with the above song on today, as a reward for getting another job. you can blame the clothes stores, i went into Kookai, they had Destiny's Child's last album on, then i went to another shop, and they had the "Survivor" album on, so i really couldnt resist. The damage will include a huge explosion, followed by the destruction of most life on earth. This has happened many times before, the last of any consequence was in Siberia, 1908. This scenario raises some interesting theological questions. For example: Is a catastrophe of this kind an indication of God's wrath? If so, how can we avoid His wrath? Should we rely on prayer? Should we start praying now? Who will be spared from this catastrophe - only the faithful? If by some miracle of multinational co-operation and technological expertise, we successfully launch a nuclear missile which diverts an asteroid from its path, will this be seen as thwarting God's will? Will this lead to divine punishment? ["Oh yes please" begs Nathan] I find these questions extremely perplexing and hope some religious spokesperson [Nathan adds: Tori? LOL] will come to my aid. Now... onto other "matters". Driving home 2nite from work, Natalie Imbruglia's new song, "Wrong Impression" came onto the radio. Is this "Torn Part II" or WHAT??! Then, literally 5 minutes later.. Alanis Morrissette's new song came on, which I'd not heard before. Is this "Ironic Part II" or WHAT??! Hehehehe. The 80's revival is dead. It's now the 'mid 90's' revival these fading pop-stars are going for. Then Dylan wrote: > Nathan, stop blaming Yahoo! For you own > inadequacies.... *sniff* You're so mean to me.
