There aren't any known demos in the hands of fans from early stuff. Well, except for the tape that Tori made for Neil before the release of LE, but I don't think that really counts. You can fly to Minneapolis, find his home, and break in to get it, though. G'luck. ;) If y'all are familiar with the being called Jaymes Warnock, he claimed to have some pre-YKTR demos. Of course, he also claimed that they were recorded in the early 70s on a DAT. Jaymes apparently doesn't realise that DAT wasn't invented until the mid-80s. (If you're not familiar with Jaymes, he's well-known for ripping fans off. He alternates between selling really rare items (but never shipping them), or selling items that don't actually exist. He has claimed that Tori wrote "Hotel" about him, and that he played guitar on YKTR. In other circles, he's claimed to have co-written an album with Cyndi Lauper, and that he had a part in "Scream 2". He pops up every few months in various online fora, trying to sell something or other.) There's an MP3 around that claims to be from "Snow Cherries in France", but it's a fake. > help greatly apprieciated. one sexual > favour granted for every helpful, non-derogatory > reply. But since > you're > impatient ... :P well dammit, you have to admit that tori-boot is one of the most "everyone for themselves" lists out there. like, if i'd posted that call for info on the van morrison boot list i'm on, i would have had a flurry of replies, and some B+P/trade offer to boot, before you'd even opened your copy of the e-mail! as it is, we're stuck with an endless bitching stream about the merits of TOMB, and not much else. which sucks. i think your e-mail earlier on about TOMB was spot on (don't ask me what you said, i just remember thinking it was good), BTW. > From the "LE: Demos and Outtakes" boot, right? yeppers. i should be getting the original silver to work from. next best thing to the original tapes :) > > 3) Abbey Road (from the RAINN boot) > > That's not actually a demo. "Tori's Beauty And A Gun" had some up - I've got one of them in MP3 format - - its absolutely dodgy quality but you can hear it enough to believe that it is probably Tori. It's called "Car Full Of Boys". There were two others on the site, but I didn't get a chance to download those. I can't recall how big it is, but I'll just look (now you wait about a minute while I look, don't read on!) Its 1.1MB - my email can handle it, can yours? Also, Lil' Dan, if you could find a copy of "Distant Storm" from the China O'Brien film, that would be great because it sounds like a top song from the poor-quality version i downloaded once. Also, don't forget Baltimore, Walking With You (a must!) and It's A Happy Day. >There's an MP3 around that claims to be from "Snow Cherries in >France", but it's a fake. You still need Zero Point, Skirt's On Fire, The Underwear Is Black, To The Fair Motorcycle Maids of Japan and I'm sure there's a few others... > > help greatly apprieciated. one sexual > > favour granted for every helpful, non-derogatory > > reply. whoohoo! score! xoxo Dan ;) np - Radiohead - "Kid A" (which I love, so don't knock it) now doing - trying desperately to get CD-R to work again but I don't have the know-how *sigh* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I Have a fish nailed to a cross on my apartment wall It sings to me with glassy eyes and quotes from Kafka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OzTori - http://www.oztori.org For all your Australasian Tori Amos needs. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Dec 2001 22:16:22 -0800 (PST) From: Nathan R Subject: Re: [oztori] here, i said, yes Dan Stapleton wrote: > i quite like it when she just sings vowels.... like > at > the begining of Thoughts. she actually does some > great > vowel adlibbing.... she uses her vocal and stylistic > range a lot more.... Oh *WRONG* Nadyne! Car Full of Boys and some other 1987 demo's were up on the Tori's Beauty and a Gun site, but that's since closed down.
