Roozi wrote: > what are you gonna do next, diss pele?? Thanks for giving me an idead for my next e-mail :) You *really* shouldn't have ;) OK. I think Pele is amazing in that it tells a very complex 'story' from beginning to end, and even 'all these years' after getting it, you can still find out new stuff all the time.. BUT.. (and there is a but).. Its production qualities are.. a tad.. dismal in places. Don't get me wrong, Horses, Blood Roses, Father Lucifer, CALS, Way Down, ITSOHV, and Putting the Damage On are 'tres' good. BUT.. I think Talula is produced a bit badly... as is Little Amsterdam.. Not the Red Baron.. (don't get me wrong - to quote the Pretenders - I do like these songs). Agent Orange is just *BAD*. Pro Widow isn't produced greatly, but I think it actually adds to the song that it is so raw. Tori probably intended it to be that way... Although then again it was her first self-produced record, and maybe she also really 'didn't know what she was doing'. There isn't a whole lot of variation in sound over the course of Pele either. Plus it's a bloody LONG album to sit through in one go. Song-wise, it is not my fave... but I do think it's probably the most 'ambitious' and introspective thing she's ever done. I do like my Tori when she goes completely off the rails - as she did for 'Pele'. Plus the artwork for the album was 'tres' interesting. OK, not really a strict "bashing" of Boys for Pele.. but I tried :) Nathan. . Yahoo! That was a half-arsed bashing if ever I saw one!
