Ok, usually I think I'm pretty clever when it comes to picking the 'what's going on' in people's lives, even when I have no idea who they are etc etc.... but this is pretty funny. I've had a great learning experience this evening. I've learnt that Roozi is not male, and that indeed she is a lesbian of sorts. I guess that would make my other 'guess' completely incorrect, since I thought Roozi and Dan H were boyfriends? Oops... I've made incorrect sex-judgments on a couple of people here before ( who shall remain nameless ), but that one's gotta take the cake! Delerium has a new album?.......reports reports?? *waves to Rachael* see you in less than 4 months! Has there been any *exciting* Tori news lately? With so many emails it's been bloody horrendous trying to wade through them all. How did we go with SLG on the Net50??? What did we get it up to? Did Winter get a mention as we had hoped? I agree, I love sorting out my CDs - once a year I guess - and putting them all on my shelf - and the realising that I don't have enough room... OK this sounds sarcastic - but I do like having all my cd's on the shelf sorted to some obscure head-reference! ;o) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2001 12:18:25 -0500 From: Subject: Re: [oztori] Canberrians Dan Stapleton wrote: [snip] > and BTW, NO WAY YOU'RE AUSSIE!?! LOL! I didn't think it looked correct - I wouldn't have thought of it except it was mentioned on some science abbreviations page - and I think they spelt it the Tse Tung way... Anyway I turn the page and I have spent the last hour working out these beauties: L-Dopa - and easyone Levodopa AAD = aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (don't ask me what it ACTUALLY does, only I know it is and enzyme catalyst involved in transforming levodopa into dopamine GDNF = yet to look up! (I'm drawing nice diagrams!) SNc Substantia Nigra (caudal - I'm guessing) SNr " " (rostral - I'm guessing) LGP Lateral Globus Pallidus (they were so polite in CHANGING their terminology in the next diagram to internal for medial and external for lateral!) MGP Medial Globus Pallidus STN (which looked like AIN!?!) = Subthalamic Nucleus (what the fuck does the Thalamus do again I've forgotten these words loose all sense of meaning after you see them a billion times) GABA (gamma amino butyric acid - but what did I have for lunch!?!) GLUT = glutamate DA-ex DA-inh (inhibitory - couldn't they just add the 'i' and the 'b'. They were easy what about these: 3-O-Methyldopa COMT (the photocopy looks like COM1) catechol-O-methyltransferase AD - aldehyde dehydrogenase DOPAC = 3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl-acetic acid 3- Methoxytyramine D-beta-H dopamine beta hydroxlase and the STUPID American way of spelling/naming adrenaline... "epinephrine" or nor-adrenaline... "nor-epinephrine". now some one try and tell me how the FUCK they get this abbreviation!?! 3-Methoxy-4-hydroxy-phenylacetic Acid... (HVA)<------- I mean WHAT!?! This lecturer is being a PARTICULAR arsehole - he hasn't come to terms with the idea of coherent sentences... fair enough he's using point form but he can't even do that properly - so there are short lines about four words - and you think ahhh that is one point - it's not - it goes on to the next line for another 4 or 5 words. The bad thing is - even if it WAS another point entirely - it still sounds like it could be correct! Bah - can't they write sentences!?! They don't even bother with proper punctuation marks - EVEN in exam questions - which makes SOME questions ambiguous! Bah! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 03:45:46 +1000 From: AndrewR Subject: Re: [oztori] Sheman (ep 1 of Oztori Drive) At 02:15 22/11/2001 +1100, riot poofter wrote: Snip The Oztori and the Restless Where is Timmy!?! ;o) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 03:48:02 +1000 From: AndrewR Subject: Re: [oztori] Canberrians At 12:18 21/11/2001 -0500, nadyne@mindspring.com wrote: >Dan Stapleton wrote: > >[snip] > >> and BTW, NO WAY YOU'RE AUSSIE!?!
