Patti Smith - Horses Nina Simone - The Very Best of Nina Simone Kate Bush - The Whole Story (i think) Loreena McKinnet - What legendary choices, even if I do say so myself. I was a Loreena Virgin until this evening. First impressions - divine music and unusual instruments make it very fab, although her lyrics can be a bit childish - can't think to quote the one that annoyed me the most, but it had something to do with a crescent moon. Oh but 06 is awesome. Everytime I hear it I imagine all these nuns in King Arthur's time, drinking lager and doing one of those irish dances with the legs. My name is Bevan and I am a Kate Bush Virgin. Haven't heard it yet so more to come (if you have time to read increasingly stoned streams of conciousness). Well Loreena has graduated to headphones status. Oh, remember this saga? (turned into a saga anyway). I ended up getting a pair of AKG K55's for 80 bucks at Fremantle Pianos. And to put that in terms normal toriphiles will understand - I have heard *masses* of new things in almost *every* song!! Like this really high pitched doof doof in Raspberry Swirl - O M G - had a torgasm. Feeling talkative tonight :) There is something else I wanna reply to so see you there! Bevan ;) "I want some sugar in my bowel" *giggle* Much funnier than the original Nina quote I had planned. I was so disappointed she left out the final "When I hold you in my arms"... Bono did the same thing... I was so looking forward to hear Tori sing "Bang bang, shoot shoot") All in all, being a person of of mutable gender, I have to say I enjoy the "drag king" tracks the most which make the masculinity of a particular song all the more obvious by having it performed by a woman. (On this note, I read a very interesting essay the other day by Gloria Steinem asking us to imagine what the world would be like if men had periods. No GST on tampons, for one thing...) *** question about New Age *** Does Tori sing "sick little fox" or "slick little fox" in the improvised bit at the end? To me, "slick" is more appropriate seeing as Mr. Reed's song Make Up has the chorus "Oh, you're such a slick little girl"... but then I saw someone on The Dent forum called "sick little fox" & I thought perhaps my ears deceived me... People used to speculate that, amongst other things, she disappeared for so bloody long between albums because she either got pregnant to Peter Gabriel, she was in a car accident, or because she had ballooned to 18 stone.. lmao. The last "book" I read was back in '96. Nathan. . Find the one for you at Yahoo! This is in Moura High School in central Queensland. Tori content: I'm sure that absolutely NOBODY in Moura has EVER heard of Tori, cuz she's not a country & western singer or a Top 40 entry. 'kay? That's funny; i keep having bizarre fantasies about me going over to work at bartercard uk and finding out that Martian Studios (isn't that Tori's recording studio/company?) are a member and I have to look after them!!!! Wouldn't that be fucking excellent for me? Of course, it would be so much cooler if she just came here for the Bartercard trade show. And yeah, there'll be some great tori-trades there.
