Why did I just mention > Father Lucifer? Ooo I know! I know! I think Lav's mentioned that she did a lucy improv before Blood Roses on Hard Rock Live. It was *actually* Father Lucifer "lucy girl". So apparently this is part three, but hey, you never know. On the bookclub - I'm in, can't say I'll read everything but! And we can always mark posts OT (bookshit) or something. I've just started The Fellowship of the Ring (again). So I'm booked for the next three weeks (hehe get it). On Strange Little Girls: Well I see it in bits really, groups. New Age stands apart and is totally different from most of the other songs. It paints a gorgeous panarama. My friend commented that he thought it was two different songs. And of course, it raises mega fab rocky horror images! The trilogy of B&C/SLG/ETS Haven't been able to separate these songs after all the Tori-reading I've been doing! Love the way the words in each song relate to the last. ETS is a great song to end it, healing. I'm Not In Love / Rattlesnakes Guess the theme is obvious! Very different tracks that work wonderfully together. And the drums in I'm Not In Love are mad! Try them with headphones for true spine tingles at certain bits - god knows how they do *that*! Rattlensakes I don't have to plug! I love the way it settles into the "lush acoustic strum". Time, Heart of Gold If I don't see all four of these together then this how I've paired them off. The transition from Time to Heart of Gold is *soooo* excellent. Okay, so I'm going to die, well, thats alright but I'm making a shit load of cash and having a killer time first. I Don't Like Monday's Happiness is a Warm Gun Raining Blood I should mention that the best transitions on the record is from Heart of Gold to I Don't Like Monday's to Happiness. The themes again. And the violence in these songs is really apparent. I Don't Like Monday's is like a lullaby - just what the doctor ordered after HOG. Hapiness is too damn trippy and finishes fantastically. Raining Blood is really female - my word - still intimidates me that song. Real Men AHHHHHHHH sweet Tori! Another Beatles >connection. Mmmmmmmmmmmm... could the "Lucy" in >Pretty Good Year & Ode to the Banana King (Part One) >be related? (though one good theory I've read is that >it is "Lucy" - the name given to the oldest human >skeleton found (?) - "turning back 10 000 years". And that "Lucy" (the dead one who you shouldn't even bother asking on a date, on account of her being somewhat deceased for three million years - unless of course.. oh.. ;) - she was named after "Lucy In The Sky", so then she might still be related twice and a half cousin to the song, or, err. jas' book club: You may have to choose carefully, your audience does include Dan.H after all.. Perhaps Warnie's 'auto'biography, or maybe just "Where's Wally" ;) *sigh* next time I leave trivia to the professionals :) ennui [ 173x360 ] _ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 08:38:16 +1100 From: Daniel G Subject: [oztori] lil' dan's operation Good luck little dude :) I'm sure it'll all be okay. Just make the most of the drug they give you before they knock you out. When I had my wisdom teeth out they gave me the most wonderful drug on earth...I was floating, lying there on my trolley. Then one of the nurses put a kettle on and I think I asked her for some tea. Then I sang "Past The Mission" (truly!!). Then I was wheeled in had a chat with the dental surgeon, then they gave me the sleepytime injection. Then I woke up in my bed feeling like I'd just swallowed sandpaper. Completely different to JLP and it makes it so difficult to say either is better than the other... if you need any tips on how to make singing 'I Was Hoping' incredibly amusing, come to me ;) Another Alanis convert on the list. Thanks very much! btw, Unplugged is definitely awesome. Her voice is beautiful. IMHO Space Cakes is much better though - Forgiven acoustic live.... oh, be still my beating heart. And yes, NPOC is a gorgeous song (we have 50%!!! yay!) and I remember the first time I heard it back in 96 it nearly brought me to tears b/c it was so lovely..... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 11:04:34 +1000 From: "Double Serpent" Subject: [oztori] SLG and 80's trash Nathan Sun, 11 Nov 2001 17:18:56 -0800 (PST) > > I'm mostly in a dark corners of cafes huddled over > > my coffee with a > > cigarette in hand. >Tori's "Raining Blood" strange little girl character >need not feel threatened. The scary part of SLG was how many 80's tracks were on it and remembered all the words to. Unfortunately, I can't warm to "I'm Not In Love", too attatched to the original, but I love "Real Men". I'm a sucker for the 80's trash music. And Nathan, you scare me with your 80's knowledge. How did I get back on to food again!?! Must be time for lunch. Andrew P.S.
