Yeah, because when I hear that someone's been eaten by a crocodile or shark, I just get all gooey. I start salivating. I'm facinated by it. I've had such a bad experience in the two years I've been using Macs in the multimedia lab at uni, that I sit down at them now and feel frustrated before even putting my hands to the fiddly little keyboard and that ridiculous round mouse. I mean, really - for a system toted to be the ultimate for use in the multimedia industry, maybe they should get in some specialists in ergonomics. Faced with the prospect of spending forty hours a day on a Mac for the rest of my working life, I'd be on a straight path back to uni to study something else... preferably something that has no computer contact whatsoever! And don't even get me started on their operating system. Admittedly the uni lab is full of OS8.5 (? I think). Perhaps OSX is better. As for Zac mentioning Windows' unabashed snitching of the Mac's interface/GUI stuff, of course you're right. But there's a lot of bad stuff about the Mac interface as well, that they'd do well to make more like Windows! That insane drop-your-floppy-disk-into-the-bin-to-make-it-eject metaphor is one of the more stupid things I've seen.... That's really interesting - it's 'Tidal' I can't get into at all. I bought 'When the Pawn...' on the strength of 'Paperbag' (I'd downloaded it months before and then one day discovered it on my computer, thought, "What's that?" and then had it on repeat for the rest of the day) and there are only two songs on the whole album that make me reach for the 'next' button ('Love Ridden' and 'To Your Love') and even these aren't horrendous. But yeah, because I loved that so much, I bought 'Tidal'... and I think I've listened to it once. Maybe twice. Nothing on it stuck out at all, for me. Think about it. Our anger quotient alone, even when doing standard stuff like grocery shopping and paying bills, is formidable enough to make even armed men in turbans tremble. We've had our children, we would gladly suffer or die to protect them and their future. We'd like to get away from our husbands, if they haven't left already. And for those of us who are single, the prospect of finding a good man with whom to share life is about as likely as being struck by lightning. We have nothing to lose. We've survived the water diet, the protein diet, the carbohydrate diet, and the grapefruit diet in gyms and saunas across America and never lost a pound. We can easily survive months in the hostile terrain of Afghanistan with no food at all! We've spent years tracking down our husbands or lovers in bars, hardware stores, or sporting events...finding bin Laden in some cave will be no problem. Uniting all the warring tribes of Afghanistan in a new government? Oh, please ... we've planned the seating arrangements for in-laws and extended families at Thanksgiving dinners for years ... we understand tribal warfare. Between us, we've divorced enough husbands to know every trick there is for how they hide, launder, or cover up bank accounts and money sources. We know how to find that money and we know how to seize it ... with or without the government's help! Let us go and fight. The Taliban hates women. Imagine their terror as we crawl like ants with hot-flashes over their godforsaken terrain. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Nov 2001 14:53:09 +1100 From: Daniel G Subject: Re: [oztori] OT: natalie imbruglia Elissa told me it was great too...and I bought the "That Day" single (i wasn't going to...but its a digipak and you all know how much of a sucker I am for DPs) and its great. >"Hill, Renee" wrote: > > i suggest going out and getting white lillies > > island. am listening to it > > now. loving it. > >No thanks. > >Nathan. > >. >Find a job, post your resume. >http://careers.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2001 19:49:23 -0800 (PST) From: Nathan R Subject: [oztori] Heart Attack at 23 "Hill, Renee" wrote: > Dan S wrote: > > >time for a heart-attack. > > but i'm only 20! lol... it had to be said. She played at the Big Day Out...but it was all OzTorians up the front and she played "Leather" to start with, but we kept asking her questions and she kept answering them and she was really nice about it all. Then she played "Dizzy" by Throwing Muses and I almost DIED because I love that song and I could actually hear her playing it in my head...it was like a private concert for me...I can remember it exactly, too!!! Then I got her autograph and talked to her alone (I followed her after she left the stage) about mathematics for about half an hour. Then I woke up. If she DOESN'T tour after her next album I've got a feeling I'll be completely disowning her. Not that she'll care/it'll make a difference, but I can just feel it...No I can't...*scream* she'd better tour...we have to send letters with Lara and Rach saying "You said it - we'll hold you to it OR ELSE" xoxo Dan ;) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2001 16:12:03 +1100 From: "li" Subject: Re: [oztori] Fwd: Poland + Tori You're such a sick little puppy Nathan. Isn't SLGs all about how you've got to stand by what you say (the Eminem stuff)? Tori will be a TOTAL HYPROCRITE if she says she's going to come to Australia, but she doesn't.
