I can guarantee you e> that a similarly priced x86 based machine could turn somersaults e> over a Mac. i disagree. i'll give you a few examples: have you ever used pro-tools? pro-tools, for those who don't know, is the industry standard audio recording and editing software - nothing even comes close to it. mac only software, up until about two years ago, where it's on both now. and the pc version *bites*. pc's are still useless when it comes to things like timing and sync'ing digital devices. macs (and ataris, for that matter) have always done this well. and other software available for pc's for recording (think logic, cubase vst/24) - while they work, they work so much better on a mac. common denominator factor? example two: photoshop. yeah, it works on a pc. the mac version (even before they optimised it for the 'velocity engine') runs rings bigtime around it. always has. colours show up (more so) correctly on the mac version. more plugins are available on the mac version. etc, etc .. and mac studio displays. you can't get better than that .. they look even better than a plasma screen. me personally, i am a pc user .. for basic stuff, windows is adequate, and the hardware's cheap. it's a tool. and for the record, just how much interface/gui stuff did microsoft steal from apple? hello recycle bin? hello apple menu (start menu)? etc etc etc. wow, i've gone on longer than i expected. i'll stop now. zac ================================================== zac ariel - web junkie m: 0414 229 299 e: zac@bit.net.au p/w: zac.home.dhs.org b/w: www.level21.net ================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2001 04:22:47 -0800 (PST) From: Dan Stapleton Subject: Re: [oztori] tori covered in honeysmack - --- Bevan Burkin wrote: > got me thinking though, what tori songs would i like > to hear covered?! and by *who* ooh ooh! nice topic! :) - - Cooling by Bjork (just imagine how sweet it'd be! awwwwwwwwww) - - Winter by Sarah McLachlan - - Never Seen Blue, remixed by BT (one of his epic mixes, not a minimalistic dubby talula-esque thing) - - God by Radiohead - - Cloud on my Tongue by The Sundays give me those songs and i will be in heaven. l'il dan ===== So then I thought I'd make some plans But fire thought she'd really rather be water instead. - -Tori Amos http://thedent.com/rainn.html ____________________________ Make a great connection at Yahoo! I've got it. I'll sell it to you for... ooooooh $1000 ;) And it's actually not the only place you can get the edit of Winter. You can also find it on: - -the UK promo Winter CD single - has Winter Edit, The Pool [*actually, I think it might mistakenly have Sugar instead from memory], Take To The Sky, and Sweet Dreams. - -US commercial Winter cassingle has the edit - -There may be a UK promo 7" with the edit.. backed with The Pool.. I think.. (but am just relying on my memory here). > the spark > vinly would be good too - from memory Renee has a > copy > of this??? what's the intrumental like anway? You can get the instrumental online.. > if you have more pink or Precious things i don't > wanna > know, lol. heheh.. I want the Precious Things promo CD. I know a place where you can get it for a 'mere' 325 pounds.. (not bad considering Esprit try to flog it for 550 pounds).. and whilst I have the $, I don't know if the 325 pounds price tag for songs I already own is justified. Nathan. . Gaslight in Melbourne try to flog UTP/MP for $200!! That is a fucking rip-off. Although I'd probably pay it if I was a new Tori fan who had to have everything. Which thankfully I am not :) Nathan. . Jackson Michael Jackson's "Invincible" album is going to have 5 different covers or something... Gee, where does that sound familiar? Although Michael's apparently only differ in the colour of the sleeve, not the general picture. What a blatant cash-in! Though I guess he's going to need it with his dwindling record sales. Least Tori's offered some different art-work.. even if 2 out of the 4 covers were crappy (HIAWG and RB pics). Nathan. . Make a great connection at Yahoo! (I'm even thinking of getting it insured, LOL!) WEll, you said you didn't want to know, but I have More Pink - fucking mint condition, absolutely tops, and I am happy with that! (not gloating, promise.) I also have the Pink Earthquakes boxed set - limited edition with certificate of authenticity. It has a picture book in it and some special postcards - it's number 1700 or something of 2000 made. I have the Boys for Pele boxed set as well - same as above, and I also have the From the Choirgirl Hotel boxed set, but it is NOWHERE NEAR as top-quality as the other two. The FTCGH set has a little piano pin, a tee-shirt and some lil stickers in it. I have a couple of lil things like the Led Zeppelin Ecomium cd (with Robert Plant & Tori singing Down By the Seaside - one of my favourites!) and the Leonard Cohen tribute cd (with Famous Blue Raincoat on it - studio version!). The promo release of Little Drummer Boy, two different promo releases of God and two different promo releases of Silent All These Years. I also have that Tom Jones/Tori Amos release on vinyl - I have momentarily forgotten the name!!! Oh yeah "I Wanna Get Back With You" or something like that. Also heaps of magazines, as well as all the normal stuff that everyone can get - interview discs, ep's and of course the major albums. I told you I love talking about my Tori collection!!!!! Now I want to read about everybody elses! love Hols xx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Nov 2001 09:08:46 +1000 From: Holly Williamson Subject: [oztori] I'll keep kickin' the crap til it's goooone...
