Also there is this from theonering.net - ----------------------------- 10-26-01 Latest News More on Elizabeth Frasier Xoanon @ 7:22 pm EST From: Rory I don't know if you can use this information, but I checked the soundtrack wesite and saw that, in addition to Hoawrd Shore and Enya, Elizabeth Frasier was credited on the page. She is the vocalist for a group call Cocteau Twins, and has a very distinctive vocal style, so if any site readers are familiar with her work, they know that the sound she goes for is very ethereal. - ----------------------------- Great suff eh? I've always thought Enya would be perfect for something involved with the lord of the rings. Liz Frasier would be perfect too! Now we just need Loreena McKennitt and Tori can be a red-haired elven Lady! ;o) Andrew ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 15:57:53 +1000 From: Daniel G Subject: Re: [oztori] OT: LOTR and music Just a note...my descriptions may contain a bit of a spoiler if you've been avoiding reading about how they're altering slightly the characters of Aragorn and Arwen. But if you know the full title to the Enya song then don't worry about it. >Great suff eh? I've always thought Enya would be perfect for something >involved with the lord of the rings. Liz Frasier would be perfect too! Now >we just need Loreena McKennitt and Tori can be a red-haired elven Lady! ;o) As far as I know Enya is only doing the one song, the love theme for Arwen and Aragorn. Which is a shame I would've like to have her do more. Lis Fraser doing vox is tops - especially around Lothlorien/Elvish themes. Loreena would be cool...but I think rather than these artists being "these artists" it'd be great if they actually SCORED the film for orchestra, &c (like Bjork on "Overture" and "A New World" for Selmasongs/Dancer) as well as performed and sang...we'll just have to wait and see!!! xoxo Dan ;) PS - I think the soundtrack is being released in limited edition set too, but I can't recall the details... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 16:03:52 +1000 From: Daniel G Subject: [oztori] and idea...I'll let you decide on its brilliance. as we all know and moan about continuously, Tori hasn't toured here for yonks. as we all know and are consequently intensely envious, Lil' Dan, Lara and her sister and Rachael as well as, I believe, Dale have seen/are seeing Toz live this year. We sent Dan with one 'care package' as I like to think of it but what if we give to Lara and/or Rachael (are you girls going to the same show? if so, you should go together, and represent DownUnder to Tori!!!) another 'care package' but, most importantly, a letter from All Of Us. In this letter we say all the stuff about missing her but, as was mentioned probably facetiously a while ago, we propose to perhaps fly her over here to Oz for one or two shows. If we propose to her that her show(s) be part of our Australian "fund raising" dos, that will possibly get her leaning in our favour. I've no idea how much it would cost flying her (and obviously mark and tash as well, plus joel or whatever his name is security) over would be, but its an idea at least and if we say "what about this as an alternative to us bugging your record company who have all but given up on you over here" and maybe get her interested and get her (hahaha if only) or her manager to get in contact with us, its a start. What do people think? Probably a load of tosh, but still... xoxo Dan ;) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2001 23:26:35 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan R Subject: Re: [oztori] and idea...I'll let you decide on its brilliance. OK.. maybe 'twould be an OK idea. BUT.. I think the "pwease come down here cuz we all miss you so vewwy much" approach isn't going to work. I think the 'package' should contain perhaps a photograph of somebody's large Tori collection placed in front of a bulldozer, with a note attached: "Tori, we are going to bulldoze all you records if you don't give us the fucking tour you OWE us all, bitch!" Maybe if one (all?) of us threatened suicide unless she got her ass down here might do the trick ;) Yeah it's a long flight for her, but it's fucking annoying that she never tours down here... Reading comments like Mikewhy on the Dent: "I have enjoyed this tour more than any other tour Tori has done, and it sad that St. Louis will be my last show." frankly piss me off! Had I known, my 'last show' of seeing Tori was fucking SEVEN years ago :( Kate Bush could record half an album in that time! ;) In other news.. Tori just covered Joni Mitchell's "River" again at the Oct 25 show! Hopefully an mp3 will be made of it. Nathan. npimh (now playing in my head ;) - "Cocoon" by Bjork. . BUT! we are helping, and we are nudging her up the charts, and therefore up the airplay lists as well. we need to keep voting. - -how about some sort of petition/letter to Warner? Renee could help get it to the right place. we could lobby for a single, point out the sucess of the album and SLG, and hope for the best. a single would improve the chances of tozza promoting the single, no? - -we could make a concerted effort to each buy up all the covers of SLG we were planning on, but haven't got around to, to give the album a brief boost and stir intrest (possibly in combination w/ the Warner petition/Tori petition/JJJ campaign). - -We could ring up super request all the time, request other Tori singles from the past, to stir up people's memories. if any of us got on, we could plug oztori. - -if we can do the above, then we will have a stronger case to present to toz. 4)it will be very expensive, and i think it's unrealistic to offer to pay. but, we could pledge time and resources to fundraising. for example, offer to raise money to found an Aussie RAINN contingent. or offer to get behind an aussie charity of tori's choice, fundraising at the shows she played, publicising the charity in conjunction with her, etc. thoughts right now.... l'il dan ===== So then I thought I'd make some plans But fire thought she'd really rather be water instead. - -Tori Amos http://thedent.com/rainn.html ____________________________ Make a great connection at Yahoo!
