Interesting thread! (hmmmmm....)

I use Shick also, but shick protector...
Dunno if it actually protects me from anything much, (maybe from falling
elephants or something) but it doesn't seem to cut - or maybe I got
neater in my shaving!

Hooray a CD arrived in the mail today - Velvet Janes - Live at the Velvet
Lounge. WOWEEE...... if ever there was a CD that'll make you laugh, cry and
dance at the same time, this is it. Words cannot express.....

"This song is a very real story about a woman whose name is Jill. And I
wanted to tell her story because some people's stories just need to be told,
especially if they can't tell them themselves. When Jill was 28 she was
diagnosed with schizophrenia, her three babies under 4 were taken away from
her and put into orphanages, and she was taken away and put into a mental
institution, where she kinda went in and out for the next 20 years. And
after 20 years of drug therapy, electric shock therapy and not much life,
they decided that maybe they'd made a mistake and that maybe she'd never had
schizophrenia at all, but by then it was way too late. I have a few memories
of this woman, one of them is her playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata,
almost note perfect, every movement, from memory, when she couldn't even
make a cup of tea. I wanted to write this song and tell her story to give
thanks for a few things she gave to me. One of which is the breath in my
body, and my musical heritage, and that she asked some angels to look over
the three little girls when she couldn't, and that's why I'm standing in

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh that story has me in tears nearly every time!!

Now, onto much more important issues; my shaving habits. I use umm... Schick
something somethings. They're quite good, they've got a little lever which
cleans them after a few swipes. I shave every two days, so having a razor
that suits me is very important!! And I almost never cut myself either : - )

Not to suggest that I've had experience cutting myself/others!

Ooer.... my film career is about to take off - I have a starring role in an
information video for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services! I
play a reformed patient, and I've got so many lines to learn by this
Friday - and I haven't even been given a script yet!! Should be heaps of fun
: - )

Tori relevance.... umm.... can't wait to hear some of the live stuff from
her latest tour - very excited!! What are the verdicts so far? Has anyone
got a fave yet?

my name is roozi (with an 'i' for any liza fans online :). i am a 23 y/o gay 
boy who is half iranian (that's where the name comes from) and half english. 
i study arts/law at sydney uni, but maybe not for much longer. my interests 
are film (particularly kitsch cult fims like "meet the feebles"), history 
(my arts major), music (besides tori i like lots of angsty female vocalists 
- - toni childs, sinead, alanis, tracy chapman etc - and tacky pop especially 
madonna), pop culture, politics (am far lefty type, easily offended lol, and 
only recently retired from student "activism"), the politics of pop culture, 
and writing (i used to edit "honi soit" - no i don't know what that means - 
at usyd and now write occasional pop culture obsessed diatribes).

i work out in west hollywood with lorenzo. personality wise i'm borderline 
shy/wild. i firmly believe that you can't win friends with salad.

i know a couple of people on here already, so hi to dan h (who told me about 
it but i kinda knew already) and spencer john. if anyone went to see george 
on oct 9 @ metro in sydney i was the guy with dan h (and made fool of myself 
when i talked to katie and she mis-understood me).

my favourite tori album is pele and song is winter. i defend 1000 oceans to 
the death but think china sucks ass (oops... thats homophobic terminology :)

hehe that's so cool... Rose Farrow is a friend of mine who i met at my 
gym... lives a few streets from me actually. haven't seen her in ages cos 
of all the touring she does... miss her at the gym especially cos she sings

great to hear ppl love her music =) i love 'purple'.... esp cos purple is

that  all  depends  on  the  speed  of the burner... for example, a 1x
burner  burns  at  150KB/second.  which translates to around 75mins to
burn a full 650MB (74min) CD.

hence a 2x burner takes around 35mins

where as a 12x burner takes around 6~7 mins.

this  of  course  is  ignoring  the  fact  that  to  ensure  utt  most
compatibility, you should burn at the lowest speed - having said that,
I  am  yet to have a problem with compatibility due to burning speed -
not  that i am a very authoritarian figure on such things - the CDRs i
burn don't get played in a very varied cross section of players :)

Like  Gav  mentioned  you  also  need  to  first get the data from the
original CD to the computer (so you can put it onto a blank CD) - this
can  be  done really really super quick (and you introduce errors into
the  recording)  - or it can be done in 'secure mode' which ensures it
is  completely  error  free.  Again the speed at which this is done is
determined  entirely  on  the  cd  drive used to rip it, in particular
whether  or  not  the drive supports C2 error information or not. Most
new  plextor  and ricoh drives drives do (and perhaps others) in which
case you can usually rip a full audio CD in secure more in around 5ish
mins.

as  for  the  tree  idea,  i  am  more then willing to get involved in
that...

As for the person that asked 'whats a tree'...

you  have  a  top  node, and then you branches coming off that one top
node,  and  from  those  new  branches  you have more nodes, which more
branches coming off them...

eg

                           Top Person (eg, Gav :)
                              /          \
                           Person 2      Person 3
                          /       \      /       \
                          P4      P5     P6      P7

                          (where P := person :)

eg,  gav  gives it to 2 people, who in turn give it to 2 people who in
turn could give it to 2 people...

(of  course  the  number '2' is just in this example, and you could be
giving it more then 2 people :)

the  best  electric  razor  i  used was a wet'n'dry one by panasonic -
cause you can use this real cool shaving gel with em... - and they get
a real nice close shave...

mind  you,  i  somehow 'broke' mine... and have never had the since to
buy  another  one  the same... - currently have one of those new braun
synco shaver ones.. - which sucks, but is a damn bit better then those
crap philoshave ones...)

the whole point of britney is that she is a postmodern superstar whose

dan explained it pretty well, the tree idea. it can only be done though if
people really want it and know what they are doing. I don't want to send the
show to one branch who burns it at 8X speed on the fly and then sends it out
to their leaves, we have to make sure the copy is flawless all the way down
the line. I know some of you may think 'so what if it got a skip or two in
it somewhere down the line', but it does matter because I don't want someone
who gets a flawed show to start trading and trade it out into the world.
we'll start from here, I'll see who are potential branches. email me
privatley with the subject line 'Tree Branch' if you have and use the
following:
- - a burner
- - Exact Audio Copy for extracting
- - a respectable burning program such as CDRWIN or Nero.......not Adaptec,
that one can have problems.

I have 09/29/01 sitting on my hard drive right now, ready to burn to disc.
Once done I'd love to get it out to as many of you as possible, but it has
to be done properly. Trees require a bit of organsation and speed to work
well. All the branches and leaves who say they want to participate must
follow through otherwise it will be a failed exercise and only a few will
get the show.

so yes, emial me if you are wouldn't mind being a branch. If I get none or
not many replies then I guess a tree isn't meant to be, I will still do
b&p's for the show though
