This type of music simply reflects a time of a kid's life, I personally don't know anyone who started listening to Metallica at the age of five. There's a progression most people go through to reach the music they enjoy listening to as teens/young adults. It usually starts out with something in the Playschool/Hi-5 area (depending on your era), and sort of works its way up from there. There are some pop records thrown in along the way - - you're even guilty of enjoying some "novelty" records. (Although thankfully you had enough sense to avoid the christmas macrena.. hehe.. this is a joke. It's kind of sad that I have to point out these things.. but then again these people are Tori fans not rocket scientists.. but i believe in peace, i believe in peace bitch). Eventually you hit your teenage years. Around 13 say, you start being really pissed off at life. Somehow this fiery red head with her screaming and her harpsichord pushes your buttons. And that as they say is history. I can't really see any conceivable way of avoiding that journey to get that destination. Infact I can't see anyway of getting ANYWHERE without a journey. We all acknowledge walking is a more advanced form of transportation than crawling, but do we go around shaming babies who aren't quite at that point in personal development? If I've learnt anything from Tori, it's that you don't SHAME PEOPLE. People have the freedom and the right to like the type of music they like, to be at the stage of personal development they are at, to 'indulge' (for lack of a better word) their sexual preference, to eat their particular favourite type of icecream and not have to worry about feeling bad about it. If more people celebrated things rather than belittling them, I think the world would be a nicer place. :) John __________________________________________________________________ Get your free Australian email account at http://www.start.com.au ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Sep 2001 00:49:20 +1000 From: "Nerida Hooykaas" Subject: Re: Re[2]: [oztori] just a question... hey everyone, > Thursday, September 20, 2001, 12:18:42 AM, Ben wrote: > > BH> if i do recall, there was a 100% agreement on this very topic on > BH> mondays #oztori meet (wow, a meet that was actually successful :p) > > uhh..not a newcomer here...don't generalise..tis rude =P > NP, in one big email it shall be from this day forth. one liners work if there is only like, a few..but not ten or more...=P two proper size emails or somethin' like that, makes more sense than like, 15 lil ones...at least to a lot of us it seems. > though i am in utter confusion as to why people like it more then > separate emails... well, because it floods people's inboxes..and when it's just a smiley added or like, two words, it can get annoying is all =) > but i doubt i will ever understand the minds of > most on this mailing list... Tori's ep of the Letterman show will be on tonight, as long as Ch9 are not doing wierd stuff... As Neri said, the ep that aired last night was Mondays, the first ep back on the air after the hijackings, the ep before Tori's. It appears to have started some 20 mins early, as I have missed the start, but with the two Footy shows on (at least on Ch9 in Syd and NBN in the Hunter), it will most likely be starting late (and so far I haven't noticed them cutting the musical act to make up time, so hopefully they won't do it tonight). It is listed in the tv guide as being on at 2am. Adelaide is still not getting Letterman is it? What about Perth and others? The c7 tv guides (and I guess Ch9 either) don't have Letterman listed, and I suspect it is because he was off for a week with what happened in NY, so if someone could report in what times it is listed in other areas and I can post it on the forums and ToriTour Other (or you can I guess, though I favour one sucinct email)... Bingo. Mind you, that makes me a hypocrite because I've judged my brother on his taste in music and incessant drugpeddling - and I've subconsciously linked the two. But I'm only human...
