I'm convinced Tori is connected to the US terrorist attacks somehow: Besides Raining Blood being track 11, we also have: 1) Me and a Gun (gun = symbol of death/killing/violence) 2) Space Dog (the planes kinda flew outta 'space' and the World Trade Centre towers had their 'dog's day' as a result.. plus there's the whole "those bombs, our friends can't even hurt you now" bit) 3) Little Amsterdam ("shut down today" - well, guess what New York did on the day of the attacks. "It wasn't my bullet" - could be Osama bin Laden maintaining his supposed innocence in the attacks.. "but I won't say that he shouldn'ta paid" - yet Osama probably couldn't care less that the US is suffering, only it wasn't necessarily HIS bullet). 4) Playboy Mommy (I'm still working on a theory for this one.. "don't judge me so harsh" - is maybe what Osama's trying to say to the powers that be in America ;) 5) 1000 Oceans (the no. of tears people have cried over these attacks). Shit, this is getting freaky. I hope for Tori's sake that the government don't get onto her. Nathan. . __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? HI everyone!! Well, today marks another important notch on the tori calendar. There I was, eagerly awaiting for the HMV doors to open at Southland at 9am.... 9:05 still no sign of any staff.... 9:10 wow! someone shows up! But apparently this person doesn't have a key.... 9:15am! Yay! Manager arrives (Not Akte for those concerned), opens door, doesn't let me in. Finally some guy opens the doors a little later, and leaves one closed and walks away, I say "can I come in?", to which he just looks at me blankly and walks away again, which I took to be a "yes" in barbaric-cd-salesman-speak. Then.... rush to the car (running dangerously close to being late for work), 'yoink' tori in the cd player and boot the car Mt Waverley-ward. I love it!! I'm sure many of us completed similar tasks today, the excitement of having the CD in your hand and not knowing it's contents, the impatience and urgence of finding something.... anything that will play a CD.... this album, like all other tori albums, is something we will talk about forever.... one of the Dan's will always think it's "a piece of shit" (or whatever, I choose not to listen to unintelligent criticism), Nathan will continue to wittingly mock those who have an opinion on this album, li will continue to get annoyed at Nathan, Nathan will always feel let-down since SLG didn't "grab his balls", I'll always love this album, Rachael will no doubt dance about like mad for all eternity to the album....I could go on, but basically, a new album - good or bad - it's tori. And, like the big man says, "Is Tori, Is Good". To quote my friend - "I just like her voice, she could be singing the lambchop song but I'd still sit there mesmerised". Ahhhh.... Hey, Somebody make a remark about Tori's vocals having no effort on the new album. I actually think the complete opposite. I think her voice has never sounded better and (kill me if you wish) I think it's the first time I've listened to an album of hers and not found it self-indulgent. I think the emotion she puts into songs like New Age, Bonnie & Clyde, Time, Rattlesnakes and Real Men, to name a few, is just right. I'm not paying out on BFP here cos I love it and all, but I think her vocals are far superior on this new album than on tracks like Professional Widow or Blood Roses where she sometimes goes a bit too far in trying to get her point across if you get what I mean. Actually one of the first thoughts I had whilst watching the tv coverage was "someone should write a song about this". Not necessarily a charity record as such, but just something to play on the emotion and the fact that it happened. Maybe something like "I Don't Like Mondays" then 20 years* later Tori might cover from a female (perhaps even twins') perspective. >I thought the same thing when 'Lady Di' died. I've >still never even heard all of Elton's re-recorded >"Candle in the Wind"... Thank 'God'. Elton's not a silly man and "Candle" is about ready for another rewrite. Gee we have some bitter cynical types on this list. I mean at least Nathan can bring something interesting (and most of the time - amusing) to the proverbial table. The reality of this is that chances are YOU used to be a "teenybopper" listening to your damned Rick Astley and Kylie Minogue records... lol. Really did you not listen to the lyrics while you were listening to this type of music? If so, how is it that you managed to sing along so well? You must've listened/read them at least once. Maybe it didn't sink in, maybe you didn't understand. Maybe you did. >And why isn't my sig working?! It's a well documented fact that email signatures are quite moody and react badly to what they perceive to be as "negative energies".
