"I was reading about what was going on in Afghanistan--the way women were being oppressed, the destruction of religious statues. And when I heard that song, I just imagined a huge juicy vagina coming out of the sky, raining blood over all those racist, misogynist fuckers."

Why can't they do one with classy musicians - Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Tozza, Lisa Germano, Jane Siberry...basically the Lilith Fair crowd... - instead of just using pop acts that will just go all "oh its such a good cause sob sob i poured my heart into it god bless america do you like my shoes?" *sigh* xoxo Dan ;) ===== Get your free @yahoo.co.uk address at http://mail.yahoo.co.uk or your free @yahoo.ie address at http://mail.yahoo.ie _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Sep 2001 20:34:29 +1000 From: "li" Subject: Re: [oztori] Freaky Strange Tori Site Thats "A Dent in Tori's Ass" I think........ Plus, "Raining Blood", inspired in part by this Afghanistan stuff, is the ELEVENTH track on SLG... hmmmmmmmmmm. And SLG is Tori's 11th album or something if you believe Spin ;) Nathan. . __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? DISCLAIMER: lots of verbal diarrhoea New Age - LOVE. Especially the bit where she says "all you little sick little fucks" or whatever. Tres cool. Love the "i'll come running to you" bit also. The little guitar bit. Love the transition between chorus/verse. And for some reason where she says "Frank and Nancy" I immediately think of Rocky Horror... not just the name Frank, but the sound of how she says it.... I also love the bit where she starts to sing "its the beginning of a new age....." etc. 97 BONNIE AND CLYDE: What amazed me most was how much better it is in CD format than mp3. There's like a whole extra bit! I'm not in love: Its cool. I think the feeling of the song is communicated really well. Its very non-victim like. I hated the original version, all I could think when listening to it was "You fucking prick, fucking with this poor woman's head..." But this song, to me, feel's like the woman's stab at him. Its like "No no no, you're not the one with the upper hand in this relationship, boy..." Rattlesnakes: This is so cool. I really like the piano in time. In Happinesss is a warm gun I really like the "mother superior jumped the gun" bit. The wurlitzer sounds like carnival music.... its eery in a sense. Love the piano interludes. I LOVE the piano interludes. To me, they sound like the sort of emotive piano pieces from LE/UTP/Choirgirl era. I like the bit around 6:30 also. And that trademark tori drawl! You've got to love that. Also the "I need a fix cause I'm going down"/"mother superior" bit at the end is done really well. Raining Blood: I love this because of the quote. Its creepy. I can picture blood raining down on all of those misogynist fuckers! Also the image of tori singing it in a church is quite intriguing.... (as she did in London). And of course, Real Men, what a divine song! I think the character really suits this song. Now which song is the lost LE track (the one Neil Gaiman mentioned)? Real men? ------------------------------ End of oztori-digest V1 #159 ****************************
