Don't point, its rude ;) I'm sorry I just thought of that and found it intensely amusing. No offence is intended. Pointing reminds me of when I was young [ah those were the days...Dan S you don't know what its like to be old *sigh*] and my brother and I were told not to point and we made up this bizarre theory that pointing weakened the universe and if enough people kept pointing we'd make a hole in the space/time continuum and everything would be sucked into it. So, all you people with sci-fi/technologically minded kids tell them that and it ought to stop them pointing hehehe. xxxx [the beer, not ultra porn] Dan ;) PS - QLDers - does XXXX still exist? ===== KH: she then knew what she had been born to do. calmly she stepped out of the stream, into her shoes and walked towards [the grassy patch]. she poured some oats right out of the package into the bowl and taped herself to it. she stood in the middle of the field, looked up to the stars and masticated wildly. what blood type do you have? I've heard a couple of promo's where Kingsmill says he'll be playing a "couple of new songs" from the album. Maybe he'll roll out Heart of Gold (he's a big Neil Young fan) and Bonnie and Clyde? The way i see it, LE was made at a time when Tori was working through a whole heap of shit. This can make the artistic process a bit strange or deviant (some people might like this!). Although well-intended artistic moments are present, it fails to deliver for me personally (with the exception of a few songs). The very subject matter also makes it inaccessible to some people. I like UTP for its Baker Baker properties, its - how shall i put it - less intense. I agree with DG that UTP is more accessible. It's as though Tori had all the time in the world to make a really choice album. I've just recently come to appreciate TVAB for its synthetic production (how different is this one to all her others?!). Kid A without the suicidal noises. Cheers Daniel C Sophie B Hawkins is a froot-loop fair dinkum. Some of the lyrics off "Whaler" outdo Tori. LE "only" goes for something like 57 minutes - they *could* have thrown another 16 or so minutes on it at least if 'they' had wanted to. Unless of course, they would have had difficulty including all of this on the LP... but they could have edited it for vinyl, and who buys LP's anyway ;) Nathan. . I'm thinking not so much actual physical length as "oh my god isn't this album over YET" length. It was her "last chance" as it were to get something the public would actually PURCHASE out there (I know we all love YKTR in retrospect, but would we have loved it then?) and dumping a whole extra 15 minutes or so of admittedly brilliant material on there may have stretched it a bit. Although I don't think many people would be arguing if we put Here. In My head on instead of Mother or Take To The Sky instead of Happy Phantom. But if they were switched, would I love Mother more than Here.? And I do realise that there are people out there who would prefer Mother over Here and I do apologise it is just an example. > Unless of course, they would have had difficulty > including all of this on the LP... but they could > have edited it for vinyl, and who buys LP's anyway ;) *raises a hand* and you are not allowed to edit ANYTHING for vinyl. Because vinyl rules. If anything you need to do a NIN and include two special tracks only available on the vinyl edition. Unless of course you just d/l the mp3s or buy the single with them on as a b-side. So much for us vinyl people feeling so special...*sigh* But we get the cover art bigger - yay! xoxo (pronounced "zo-zo") Dan ;) ===== KH: she then knew what she had been born to do. calmly she stepped out of the stream, into her shoes and walked towards [the grassy patch]. she poured some oats right out of the package into the bowl and taped herself to it. she stood in the middle of the field, looked up to the stars and masticated wildly. what blood type do you have?
