Another argument FOR pushing the button: People die every second, and none of us can avoid death (well, only us immortals), so why delay the enevitable and just get it over for the poor soul whose life is dependant on you not pushing that button. Also, it's not like you'd ever KNOW who you killed for pushing that button - just some anonymous so-and-so who you've probably never even been in the same 100 square kilometers as. And, nobody could ever conclude that person X died as a result of a red button being pushed - I mean, you don't see coroners determine the cause of death as being "red button being pushed by unknown person in exchange for 6 figure sum", do you? We need to be a bit realistic here, folks. Plus, you only have a one in 8 million or something chance of picking the 6 winning tattslotto numbers, and as there are approx. 19 million people living in Australia, who is going to blink an eye if it suddenly becomes 18 999 999? You have more chance of winning tattslotto... and besides, the first division prize in tattslotto per winner does not always reach $1 million. I'm pressing. Nathan. . OK, I've beaten Tori to a pulp.... Now it's ***BJORK****'s turn: (and no, lazy little me hasn't yet got Vespertine, so I can't comment). 'Alarm Call' - I'm no fucking Buddhist, but that song is shit. 'Immature' has potential but could have used more lyrical thought that the 3 or so lines repeated throughout. 'How extremely lazy' of Bjork. 'Headphones' is fucking boring. It 'lulls me to sleep' every time. 'Glora' - WTF?! If I wanted to hear a flute, I'd go listen to the local high school band play. 'Cover Me' - Ok to listen to once. A second time would be too much of a shit thing. 'Modern Things' - first half OK. Second half - crappy. 'Enjoy' - a chord change once in a while would be nice. 'Anchor Song' - would have been best left at the bottom of the ocean, gathering barnacles and moss. 'Like Someone In Love' - Pity that car at the end didn't run her over for recording this shit. 'Hidden Place' video - wow, we've seen orange snot go up your nose, Bjork.. but must we see it happen 80 times within the space of 4 minutes? And why does she have the fucking 'aaaah-oooh-aaahh' n' Icelandic unintelligble gibberish ad-lib thrown into every second song? *end of bitch* Don't be mistaken, folks... I really do love my Bjork. Just thought I'd please Natty by bashing Bjork, and erm, *cough* praising Tori. Yeah, that Tori chick's really cool. Nathan. . Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo! I worked up the courage to give it a listen too. I'm not so sure either. There were some songs which had me sitting up and singing along halfway through (doing that thing where you imagine you know the words and keys but you really don't but you're having fun anyways). On the other hand, there were some songs I thought "ok.....". I guess the thing is that I bought three other cd's at the same time and as soon as the first note was played on them, I loved them. Whereas, and I'm sure, Vespertine will come round eventually. I'm not so sure about having the title of "album of the year" for Vespertine, it's early daze yet. Most of the releases this year are all coming out later in the year, so I'll give my $50 on the matter on 31/12....but Bjork is Bjork and she'll always be the hippest coolest most magical music maker ever : - ) Here's some more non-tori things to talk about; who's already thinking about what they'll be doing on New Years Eve? Sarah McLachlan remix album.... someone said mixing Angel was sacrilege or something.... I think it's a marvellous mix, and it's totally done the song justice. The whole album has done her songs justice in my opinion. Sweet Surrender, I could listen to that for years, Angel's excellent, Fear is mesmerising, Silence OMG! what an awesome remix!!!, and Hold On, BT has lived up to his name there..... phew what an incredible CD. Ohhh and I forgot I Love You..... quite the boppy-dance-a-bout song. Ok, I'd better go, all of a sudden my parents are talking about moving house and I have to go stop them. ~Andrew~ - -----Original Message----- From: owner-oztori@smoe.org [mailto:owner-oztori@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Dan Sent: Saturday, 1 September 2001 12:58 PM To: OzTori Subject: [oztori] OT: Vespertine Just got home with my nice shiny copy of Vespertine... having my first listen...
