I don't think anyone's disputing the sound or sonic quality of original recordings versus mp3s, but I don't think anyone really cares. People love mp3 for its convience and (relatively) compact size. People will continue to use mp3s until such time as a better format comes along and A GREAT reason for using it is promoted. And I invite anyone on this list to create such a format - if you do, let me know, I'll help you market the damn thing. lol. In the meanwhile can we just drop this subject or perhaps create another list.. mp3obsession@smoe.org perhaps? And on that note I'm going to go and listen to my collection of Tori album tracks, b-sides, remixes and bootlegs.. in mp3 of course! *stupid grin* Or alternatively I could listen to my personal recordings which were done on a really crappy $40 microphone from Dicksmith and recorded straight to mp2.. *watches selected memembers of this list go a funny green colour* Here's a thought: In the event that Tina Turner records another studio album (and let's face it, little indicates they're not going to keep milking her following for all their worth) I wonder if she'd consider recording "But I'm Experienced Babe". Maybe we should start sending off emails and stuff to her management. Let them know that it's from the Oztori organisation.. and then let Tori know that we've been doing it and drop less than subtle hints about business prospects of touring Australia. (Or failing that perhaps we could just find something that kills mosquitos properly) JustA BoI "It's like this parent thing. I honestly never meant for you to feel that it was a personal attack on you..if it was...I woulda said a lot more...believe me, I am a woman of many words....when I want to say something...I do. I do not have a lack of respect for what you are interested in.....I don't know how you got that from three little words I posted. The thing that I DIDN'T appreciate was your personal attack on me...that wasn't fair when I hardly said a word to you at all, and what I said, was meant to be taken lightly.....not as personally as you have taken it. If you want to personally attack me, please send it to me offlist...it's not really appropriate to send it to the list...at least *I* don't think so ne ways....I'm not entirely sure if it's a rule of the list or not, but I'm pretty sure that it is. What you said actually didn't completely go over my head and I really didn't appreciate that comment...I actually know a lot about computers and burning MP3's etc....obviously not as much as you, you know a lot on the subject and seem to be really good at what you do/wanna do, I just thought it was an unfair comment for you to make, because you don't know me personally...so you wouldn't know what I know/don't know. I am actually really interested in a lot of computer/digital media...I studied Multimedia at uni for a while....I know it isn't the same as what you are studying..by far, but I DO know a little on the subject. as for calling me a bitch...I didn't appreciate that either....I thought name-calling was sposed to stop when we were all ten. So, basically, I'm sorry you took my comment so seriously...it really was not intended that way...and please don't personally attack people...it's juvenile. Well, I've only heard the tracks on the single so far - I am SOOOOOOO waiting for Monday to come around (well, only for the album coming out (: ) Anyway, I have to agree here. Listening to Generous Palmstroke - it I think is my fave song on the single now! Verandi is pushed aside! The beauty of this track - this artificial calamity taking place around Bjork with all these hard sharp pointy noises - and there comes Bjork with the "Generous palmstroke" line - and it kills you - it is so vulnerable! Wow. GREAT STUFF! >what we really need is another nathan.. - it would give mr R some >competition :) Well isn't this Mr. R giving him any competition!?! :o) "Reen L" offered: >You LOVE South African accents????? There is way too much caffine - I had withdrawls believe it or not when I quite caffine - cold turkey. Nothing BAD, just headaches that made me go to bed early for the next three nights. Red Bull and others have Taurine - which was discovered from bull's testacles - that's not the bad bit - supposedly a large about of Taurine - an amin-acid fascilitates the absorbtion of fatty acids into the body. So much sugar raises youre insulin resistance - i.e. the body sets the bar higher for the time to release insulin to uptake unused glucose in the blood - so increasing the likelyhood of adultonset diabetes! If you want caffine - eat a lil bit of chocolate. If you want something to kick you awake - I found - utilising the fresh juice bar at uni - that a fresh squeezed juiced jolted me awake... its the natural fruit sugars! I never noticed it before (that would have been because I was drinking all those cokes/pepsis etc. Plus the vitamins in the *fresh* squeezed juices are very healthy for your body... keeping things working, providing anti-oxidants - which mop up free-radicals in the body. etc. Woah - I wrote a lot in that lil bit! Anyway we were billeted out for a few nights. At the family a few of us were staying with, we were chatting away and the Mother was telling us about a few of the places that were coming up on our itinerary... it's just the inflections she used in her sentences that was a little off putting like... "Lake Taupo is a very nice lake, ay?" And with that 'ay' tacked on the end it sounds like a question and you keep feeling you should answer, but how can you when you've never ever been to this place that was being talked about! ;o) ay? ;o) I must say that southern states can't get away without annoying language habits - two PET hate words that have originated in Melbourne over the last 8 years... So if a bunch of ppl on the list don't like the >new direction she's gone in then it's to be expected! i just goota sya i love china, always have liked that song just a thing on tori - i was thinking the other day, if i was not a fan and had never heard of her music (well even if i had heard of her music) i think that if i met her and was not a fan i would think she is bizarre, and i would think she was a complete fuckwit, i think i would think she was just ssuch a dimwit with no idea on anything and that she was just some stupid idiot in this world with the rest of the stupid idiots, but since i am a fan i think i will think different (did i just make sense, or just type a whole heap of crap) >I'm all for healthy tori slagging if it's not just someone getting up >saying she's shit (remember Jasmina's sister? that was inappropriate - >someone saying they don't like song "x" isn't...) yeah but my sister is a complete ................(insert any mean swear word to describe her). ok, i'll stop being mean to my sister now.......... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 12:24:09 +1000 From: "Jasmina" Subject: Re: [oztori] OT: George >Hi all. Ok, I apologise for any retardedness in this email, I'm hellishly hungover. Yeah, so anyways... AndyR screamed; >two PET hate words >that have originated in Melbourne over the last 8 years... "Grouse" and >"Sick" arrrrrrrrrgh shut the FUCK up with these words. :o) Don't get me started on NSW, QLD and SA accents/language problems. Ok, well you did. NSW - at least I never went to "Skewl", instead I went to "School". And everything is "cool", not "kewl". SA - man, you've got some freaky Kiwi/Pommie accent happening there (and you all smoke pot which doesn't help because it makes you drive slower which is frustrating for the 10000km/h driver from Melbourne) QLD - a major contributor to the "ay" phenomenon. Too much sun, I say. Victoria rocks. I'm a self professed wankerish Victorian, I love it here......ahhh "sun is shining, the weather is sweet". Hmmm... ok Tori stuff. Where do I get the clip!? it's driving me NUTS!!! Dan - thanks for sending it to me, but it didn't work? Threw some warning message at me telling me the world was going to end in 5 mins... or something... I never pay any attention to them, I just scream and close it. This is very exciting, almost one month to go before SLG is released - woohoo!! Vespertine comes out this weeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! YAY!!!!! (must check bank balance to ensure I have the $). When's Alanis' album coming out? Does anyone know what it's called, and are there any songs available yet? Oh, and speaking of sisters... mine's so mean. "You can stay at my place anytime!", so I ring to ask if I can stay last night... "no, you can't". So I have a glass of wine, she rings back "yeah you can stay here if you want". Me - "you're a dick, I've had a drink now so I can't drive there". In other news, Lotus is a really nice bar! Bridie O'Reilly's is a shit pub. And the door bitch at Frost Bites was... well... a bitch. ~HungoverLittleHippoAndrew~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2001 20:57:42 -0700 (PDT) From: Natty Subject: Re: [oztori] OT: George - --- Jasmina wrote: > >Hi all. Anyone know of any good songs to feed heartache?? My boyfriend and I broke up last night, and....well, apart from all the crying, I need something to soothe me. And then I'll come back again) From the Dent: The Late Show With David Letterman (Monday, September 17, 2001) Laura informs us that ICE Magazine is reporting that Tori will be appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman on Monday September 17, 2001. I have been informed by a friend that Ch9 are conveniently chopping the music act off Letterman to make up for the tardiness of their own shows (ie going over time)... I don't know whether this is based on one night, or it happens every night, so fingers crossed (or contact Ch9 if you think they really care). And if the above air date is correct, that will be Tues 18th Sept evening/ Wed 19th very early in the morning, depending on how you look at it. The non streaming version of the SLG vid is available at: http://pages.prodigy.net/klingon/Strangelittlegirl.rm You can simply view it, or chose 'save as' or equivalent and have it on your hard drive :) X Lavs ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 16:04:46 +1000 From: "Darwin Clan" Subject: [oztori] OT- Avalanches No, not of the snowy kind, rather the brilliant music kind. JJJ are running a competition to win a copy of their 45 minute song they recorded. It's soooooo rare to get a copy of it, because it will never be released (it would cost too much to get the rights to all the stuff they used in it). If anyone on this list wins it, I WANT A COPY!!!!! I would love to hear it. Alternatively, does anyone know if/where you can get it off the net? Thanks! ~AndyD~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Aug 2001 16:04:32 +1000 From: "Lavenda" Subject: [oztori] I forgot the tshirts... Yes, I'm harping on it again.
