They're revolting. Trust me (ex-Sth African girl talking here). No accent has ever triggered nausea faster. You should visit my relatives, that'll cure you nice and quick. Reen PS- Tori content... er, she doesn't have a Sth African accent, thank god? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2001 09:56:33 +1000 From: Jean Mostyn Subject: RE: [oztori] enter your personal details [OT] I just wanted to let you all know that I am waiting until the album is released to hear it .. unless a friend gets his promo copy earlier ... that is all! We haven't had any new stuff since Venus Tori seems to be a musician with integrity, and one whose music tends to have a large say in when it comes out. So I severely doubt that Tori is 'churing' SLG out. There have been songs even recorded that while Tori seems to think they're strong songs, still haven't seent eh light of day, so in all probability there has been new material we jsut haven't heard it yet. And with out the band, there's no need for secret time on this tour. I have to agree taht this album won't be the same because there simply won't be the same layers of interpretation as tehre have been in previous records. But heck peeps, don't judge till you hear it. 40 or 50 times! I think this is going to be one of those sleepers. Is there anyone out there who LIKES the new album?? I think it's fucking excellent. New Age is currently rocking my world. I like it because I like to hear Tori's versions I guess, the subtleties of her voice are wicked. Thanks to the "people" for causing a grating loop of "i don't think your ready for this jelly" in my head for the past 15 minutes!! So .. whats your fave song from SLG and why? And so people actually respond, whats your most hated song from SLG and why? I don't think your ready ... (Small informative bit, just in case: Matthew Shepard was a > gay boy beaten half to death and then crucified by two rednecks in Laramie, > wyoming. Tori content: she dedicated "Merman" to him on several occasions > live.) Ok, well obviously I didn't know about this, or I wouldn't have used Wyoming as an example, BUT, the point that I was trying to get across, is that in a place like LA or New York, you can't exactly walk down the streets at midnight (no matter who you are, gay, straight, black, white, hispanic ..whatever....) without being in more danger, than say, if you were walking down the streets of a small town in Tenessee. I would say the same thing about walking down the streets of Sydney, in relation to my town on the north coast...big difference.I am lot safer there than if I was to walk down the streets of Sydney at midnight. I guess I just meant that the risk of being attacked, hurt, whatever, is a lot lower if you are in a nicer town, and I believe that if you are gay, then you are going to come across prejudices wherever you are...small town, big town...etc, which leads me to > I think small towns are only safer than cities if you can conform, fit in, > so if you are non-Anglo or queer that counts you out. In my experience the > small town environment only serves to magnify violence, or the threat of > violence, to those who do not fit in. One of my friends, for example, was > actually asked by the police in his hometown to leave because he was too > obviously gay. (I say this having spent large portions of my life in the > Southern Highlands.) I agree totally with this statement and I know what it is like being a person who isn't gay and isn't non-anglo that has lived in a small town since birth...it isn't pretty....it's one of the reasons why I moved to the Gold Coast....to get away from small-minded people in my town...so, I can't begin to imagine what it'd be like to be black or gay in a small town..and obviously what happened to Matthew Shepard is disgusting =( I also just wanted to clarify that I just thought it was wrong to group all Americans together...I definitely agree that it is less safer in America than in Australia, and I would never want my children to grow up in America...Australia is a much nicer country..but obviously we aren't immune to violence as we have our own fair share over here. Anyways, just my thoughts Neri =8O) > ooh, that was a bit serious.
