Ooooh well... I normally wouldn't bother saying anything, but I have seen too many horrible comments about Americans to let this go. What's said above is so not fair to say about anyone...no matter where they come from. I went to America in '99 to see Tori in Seattle and spent 6 months in Alaska with my boyfriend (yes he is American..which might make me sound bias, but I'm really not) and ya know what? Most of the Americans I met were just like us..you may find it hard to believe if you haven't actually visited America, but there is a hell of a lot of nice people there. Yeah, there is a hell of a lot of assholes too, but you get that in any country. Australia is by no means immune of assholes..we just have less than America cause there is less people here...I'm sure if you did the math by population, there would be just as many assholes in Australia as there is in the US. A lot of Tori fans I have met are really nice people and not arrogant at all...there are definitely a few annoying ones with their "oh I am Tori's BIGGEST fan!" attitudes...but so what? again.....you get them in every country/race whatever I realise that most of what has been said about Americans is probably tongue-in-cheek or sarcasm...I just felt like I needed to say something in their defence. So, ya know, a little less American bashing would be nice...they are really a lot like us. The people may be fine and dandy and all but the country sucks, everything is so screwed up over there - i'd rather australia anyday even though we seem to follow a lot of the stuff that they do on a lighter note >Actually, I wish I really *did* have sharp >fingernails.. then I could self-pleasure myself by >digging them right into my back. The people may > be fine and dandy and all but the country sucks, everything is so screwed up > over there - i'd rather australia anyday even though we seem to follow a lot > of the stuff that they do Definitely...why do you think my boyfriend lives over here with me? hehe. He freely admits that the government and some other things in the US sucks...he likes it here in Australia...but, I just think saying that "Americans" suck is a little too general and a bit unfair...a person isn't defined by the country that they live in..even tho it may be easy to do sometimes. Heck, I don't think I'd ever live in America...things with crime etc are a LOT worse over there than they are here, but it also does depends on where you live in the US..some places in the US would be safer to live in than living in Sydney...we always hear the news from places like LA, New York, Chicago etc..all the big metropolis places..let's not forget that the US has 50 states....and I can tell ya..I don't think all of them would be bad...like, for example, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming...you don't hear much comin' from there. It's kinda like if you live in a more rural town in Australia, you are safer than if you lived in the middle of Sydney, but things still happen in spurts in those towns, it doesn't matter what country it is really. And don't forget, a lot of artists we love come from America...so ... are all Americans bad? =P Neri =8O) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Aug 2001 15:13:44 +1000 From: "li" Subject: Re: [oztori] American Bashing I resent being likened to Americans! - ---------- > From: Nerida Hooykaas > To: oztori@smoe.org > Subject: [oztori] American Bashing > Date: Monday, 20 August 2001 11:17 > > Ok I have to write a response to all the American bashing that has gone on > of late.....like: > > > NR> c) attend concert surrounded by a few thousand > > NR> annoying, arrogant AMERICANS, with their irritating > > NR> accents, and "oh I am Tori's BIGGEST fan!" attitudes. > > > oh so fucking true...
