A better idea would've been to release a limited edition initial release of the album so that existing Tori fans can have the opportunity to have something that may increase in value over the years! Either that or the booklet could have cards similar to Regurgitator's "Unit" album where you change the cover to one of several brightly coloured shapes (as part of the CD booklet) so that when you get sick of the album you can change the cover and make it look like a new album when really it's just the same old album!! Not that I'm saying I would ever get tired of any of Tori's albums anyway! Perhaps... BUT - none of the "ready-made" collectables have really become THAT collectable.... excepting the UK Little Earthquakes Limited Edition singles, and the UK Cornflake Girl Limited Edition CD single. Collectables usually become so sought after because nobody bought them in the first place (hello YKTR), and so they're hard to find now. So-called Tori "rarities" always go for ridiculous prices in OZ - eg. a Tea With the Waitress CD I saw a few years back for over $100. What? not our nathan? an idiot? Who would have thought :) In any case, i doubt it is of much concern to nathan about his dropping sperm count, but his lack of memory, that could cause him problems... - i suppose this many dans on the one list would confuse a 60yo... dan. dan@danhirning.com www.danhirning.com 9:07 pm, 14/08/2001 6B368B14 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Aug 2001 04:19:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Nathan R Subject: [oztori] Debt-collecting, liquor, Samantha Fox, and art-school drop-outs. All of the 'girls' we know I think look a) stupid ('cept for the sexy 'librarian'!), and b) completely unrelated to songs they are supposed to be representing. Eg. - that Mariah/slut/whore/Jackie's-Strength type pic would maybe suit if there was a song on SLGs called "Slut Patrol"... or if Tori covered Samantha Fox's "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)"... LOL. Now THAT is something I would like to see... maybe. The pic of Tori with the beret and fag might suit if there was a song called "Boring 40-something Art School Drop-Out"... or if she did another Joni Mitchell cover perhaps meshed with a verse or 2 of something from Suzanne Vega.. *whoops* Et cetera, et cetera... The dark July reunion fell amongst me. I clutched: My two lovers, fresh and enticing, Elasticising time. I lay, Nauseous and ugly Sane - Shaken by cream and cooled on the road. The grass whispered to my enemies, Defiling the air. Not alone, far off through the scant trees, He played - The softest temptation. My lover Only inside the labyrinthine pyres of self. When I drink of my other love, Bitter or smoothing, acid on the heart, Lost introspectively, I am soon filled. I wake, musty and flown, and feel my insides defiantly turn. The lover in the woods, though, Consumes my chakra whole. His touch lands as butterflies on the flower of my skin, A humming brilliance. His hands hide an expanse of light, His scent renders me sedated, Elated. Fallen, seeping into the tarmac, All was flimsy and torn. I begged: For the lover, Frolicking in the forest, To press himself wholly around me. Protect me from his spiteful rival, And lay me delicately down in peace. Lets get Tori to tour Spokesgrannie-for-a-generation dribbled: Well they may as well, given the piss-poor effort they are going to do in promoting this album. You've just reminded me of a thought (And no, they dont happen very often) that I had whilst on my way home from work. I was told by a promoter that they wouldnt do a Tori tour, because there isnt enough demand. We all *know* that there are a lot of Tori fans out there that arent on this list. And as you said, she's never really promoted. If more people knew about the album, I dare say there'd be a greater demand. Seeing as there's most likely not going to be a huge promotion of the album... why dont we promote it ourselves? Tell people that there's a new album coming out, they might not know otherwise (for lack of official promotion)... So, as I was hopping off the train this evening coming home from work, the colourful little stickers attached to every lamp post, promoting some hacker group caught my attention... I think its a safe assumption that most of us would have printers attached to our PC's. What would be so hard in getting our hands on some blank sticker medium, and printing up little stickers that say something simple like "Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls, In Stores " and shiftily slapping them on a few lamp posts? It's a crazy idea, but those Tori fans that wont know about the album, may just see a sticker... and may just think "Oh, Ill go buy that!" Am I crazy, or is this a feasible idea?
