Some of you may have heard of/know Laurie Anderson already, but my first encounter was yesterday when I watched the rage special on female performers. Included was the clip for "Language Is a Virus". It blew me away. BIG TIME! She reminded me alot of mid 80's Jane Siberry [around "The Speckless Sky" for those who know/care], but more artsy. This piece [I've just read that she's not so much a musician as a performance artist] was mostly spoken word with heaps of cool instruments and stuff. But also, and this is why I'm sending this to you too Inga, the performance was much more than band-on-a-stage [it was a live clip incidentally]. The band were in costumes/masks [except for Laurie herself] and it was a wide, open space, amazing...and on the screen behind them were projected words [you know me and my words. If you don't, I have something for you soon], pictures, movies, a giant Laurie head... I just went WOW! So I suppose what I'm asking is has anyone else heard of her/got anything by her and would you recommend it at all? Cheers all, Dan ;) paradise is just like where you are now, only much much better. ===== one false move, and you're dead, ah...
