Guildford Community Centre, 25th August 2001. We have the hall booked from 11am - 8pm. If we still want to party after 8pm, then we can head into the city or something equally exciting... Tickets are $15 each. Jason has kindly offered to put up the bond money, so that's taken care of. We just need to pay the cost of the hall now (which is $330 including GST). ***Please note that NO alcohol is going to be supplied, nor can anyone bring any into the venue. Main reason is, we'd have had to apply for a liquor license, and there are going to be people under 18 at the party, so... it works out much easier if there is no alcohol at all (or any other illegal substances)... I'm sure we'll all have a good time w/out it, though! The hall comes with tables and chairs to seat 120 people (but obviously, if more people arrive, it just means there's more standing, and I don't think everyone's going to be seated at once, are they? *sigh* so now that's taken care of, we can start cracking on everything else! woohoo! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 11:43:16 +1000 From: "Nerida Hooykaas" Subject: [oztori] Brisbane party and t-shirts Hey Everyone! I just emailed Nina offlist about the Brisbane party...my boyfriend and I and another friend of mine are willing to try and make it if enough people say they wanna have a party. I'd be travelling up there from the Gold Coast, so I would hope that the trip is worth it! Anyone else interested? Email me offlist if you are and we can email the organiser and get somethin' happenin? =P The other thing I wanted to ask is....what's going on with the t-shirts? Did we decide on what the best design was and have we gotten any quotes for prices etc yet? and can I have my lil tight girly tee? =8O) Just wonderin'! Love Neri =8O) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 14:40:34 +1000 From: AndrewR Subject: Re: [oztori] brisbane rainn party At 09:19 25/07/2001 +1000, nina riddel wrote: >i got a response from the brisbane organiser saying that there was nobody >interested. i know at least 3 people who'd come, and they could bring >others. exactly how many people are there on the list who'd come to a bris >party? we could just have a low-key gathering in the botanical gardens or >some other public place - some other brisbane lists i know of have done >that, and it's a good no-obligation way to meet. anyone interested? Sounds like a great idea, depending on numbers, but the problem is re the RAINN organising in BrisVegas, is that there has been literally NO discussion about it here on the list!?! (I'm not the organiser by the way... who is?) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 22:02:08 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: [oztori] SLG I just got a copy of the Music Network (industry bible) and it has Tori down as being a Sept release, but listed as strangelittlegirls as opposed to Strange Little Girls... nothing very exciting, just thought I'd post. Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan and Danielle Spencer are down for September & beyond, while Bjork is down for August 27. Oh, and Victoria Beckham's album 'Innocent Girl' will be arriving in stores in September as well... does anyone need any new coasters? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 22:13:27 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: [oztori] nothing we haven't heard before, but... also in music network this week in the 'know your product' section: TORI'S A STRANGE LITTLE GIRL The new studio album from Tori Amos will be called Strange Little Girls and is a cover version collection. The songs were all written by men, but are performed by Tori from the perspectives of female characters. The theme is reflected in the album's artwork, which sees Tori dress in each character for photographer Thomas Schenk. The title track (by the Stranglers) is the first single, while other songs on the album include (blah blah). Tori also covers Eminem's 97 Bonnie & Clyde. She says of the choice "when i first heard the song, the scariest thing to me was the realisation that people are getting into the music and grooving along to a song about a man who is butchering his wife. So half the world is dancing to this, oblivious, with blood on their sneakers." Amos will commence a two month tour from September 28 in Miami, but the destinations are yet to be announced. Strange Little Girls will be released locally on September 17 through Warners, preceded by the single mid-August. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2001 22:14:47 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: [oztori] OT: arrrrrrgh!
