Just in reply to the news about Strange Little Girls!!! OMG what IS she doing? That was my very first reaction, so at first I agreed with Rachael and was very pissed off and a little let down...cause I mean.....we were all expecting new tori songs right?? But because we didn't get that it's like....what the?? But ne ways....even tho I was pissed off to start with (especially with the Eminem thing..that really confused me for a lil bit)...now that I have read more about the album on the dent, it all makes perfect sense to me and this album is at least going to be interesting...if not fantastic! In case some of you haven't read why Tori has covered "'97 Bonnie and Clyde", go here : http://thedent.com/latimes070101.html It explains that Tori is giving the song a different voice....the voice of the victim! She does this gender reversal on every song that she covers...that to me is just pure genius! wowee! There's no doubt about our Tori....you always get what you don't expect...at least that's my opinion ne way...which brings us back to Neil Gaiman.....who I think said something about SLG to the tune of "expect the unexpected" or something similar...can't remember.......so now I know what he means...and I haven't even heard the album yet! Anyways, this is album is definitely not what I was expecting, or really hoping for....but now that I've read about it and everything has been explained....I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! It has also changed my view on Eminem a little bit just from reading the above article.....which is huge....because I have never liked him at all...but I now I think I'm starting to get him a little bit more than I used to.... hehe....only Tori could pull off such an album =P wowowowowowowowow Love Neri =8O) - ----- Original Message ----- From: Rachael... do you know what i'm on about?' i am feeling so not good about my writing at the moment, my vocab has shrunk and i am so like huh - an album of covers, thats all thats on my mind, and i gotta get into a henry lawson character's persona and write a crappy speech thng, i'm being a complete country bumkin according to the few who have heard the start of my seech which is a good thing cos i've impersonating a country bumkin, i hate talking in front of people,, tomorrow seems like a horrible day for me - i have to do my crappy speech thing, and we have school photos and i have a pimple -aint that like the most typical ting that could have happened, ah well and i hate my work, they are so retarded, they cant make up the rosters for the following week until that week comes so i have to go check that out, and i have a billion other things to do, i stress to much but then i'm not stressed, i'm just completely retarded, does anyone think i am a narcisist? i think all people are in their own way, and as of late i've been thinking that i am so up my self and its amazing that i have friends and all, (and i can suddenly smell this really weird smell, it smells like talcum powder, where did that come from, how weird is my house, strange smells all over the place, itas werd too cos my siister is cooking so i hope its not from her cooking cos that would be too weird) so yeah, another thing that made me think i am so up myself is that i heard my voice, like i have a really annoying voice, i never realised how annoying it is, just count yourselves lucky you dont have to hear me, i wont explain my voice, b/c you probly wont think its annoying but who i am and the people i knwo and groups i know and all and i think i hate people liek that i have a voice that woull go with the poeple i hate, do i make any sense, or do i just talk gibberish, i think im procrastinating by writing crap to all you oztorians out there, so god bless you if you have been bothered to read this email, jas p.s. what is it with people and their problems with typos? Also, the way Tori is doing it, reminds me of a phenomenon of country music... the 'answer back' song. Honesty (and it was only because of a thing for uni), I was listening to the country hour on the radio (2NUR) and they had this segment of 'answer back' songs, where someone has done a response to a song, and they played the origianl and the answer. Quite funny most of them, considering the standard topics of country songs... "If it hasn't got a truck or a dog or a broken down heart in it, well if it's not country.... WHAT IS IT" kudos to anyone who knows who sang that. As far as eminem goes... the hoohaa is about Eminem's lyrics, in that song in particular. Which played a part in said wife attempting suicide. I wonder if Tori has conversed with her at all... Anyway, there's also been talk that Tori is doing this album to finish her contract with Atlantic. I can't see why Tori would do that... if the songs come and it's their time, she doesn't hold back. I don't think she's churned this out just so she can go to a better record company. On the upside, a few things I've read also imply that she will tour Australia! Which would be jsut typical... of course, when we actually hear the album we may be blown off our feet, but right at this moment there is so little support for it, I for one am not so hyped about a tour right now, unless she focuses her set on pre-SLG stuff... ;) Sorry, I thought my pesimism from yesterday had gone. And another interesting thought... as far as singles go, I wouldn't be surprised if things have jsut been flipped around... instead of the covers being b-sides, they the A, with new songs on the B. Fingers crossed... The Dent has also posted this comment from Tori: "the scariest thing about Bonnie and Clyde is that half of the world is snapping it's fingers and has empathy for this man who is butchering his wife. As she lies bleeding half the world is dancing to this, oblivious, with blood on their sneakers. When you murder your wife, you can't control who befriends her..." Ooh, ooh, ooh... i actually know about this! See, Humpty Dumpty, the rhyme, is actually a riddle. The answer being, that he's an egg. But over time, with it being so popular, everyone came to know him as an egg without having to work out the riddle. The fact that he is personified (ie made humanish) had something to do with humpty/dumpty being terms for 'large' people. But int he egg sense, it was talking about their round rolling nature, so beware when you put them on a flat surface (or the edge of a table for eg) because you can't put it back together. I actually got out this book from the library that had the history of all these nursery rhymes, so if anyone wants some riddles, I'm your girl. Ok, so I was beaten (no pun intended) to the punch by a few others, but I notice they don't have Ladybug, Ladybug there, and that one has a rather cool explanation (if you like witchy things). Oh and well... sorry for my hopeless typos. But I rarely spell check.
