Lavenda mentioned this before and I was thinking...since we don't get wonderful Tori-goodies and Tori won't notice us if we don't register with RAINN we could donate X% of the takings to RAINN and the rest to a local charity - my charities of preference would be either the Red Cross Women's Shelters or one of the prevention of youth suicide thingies [I can never remember what its called]. But 2 the important part of this communication... Someone, more than one someone, blew a rag on supposed former infatuation junkie. not fair, not fair. and sounds all the same... not true. I direct u to "heart of the house," as pure hearted an ode to mother as you are ever likely 2 hear, all acoustic guitars and single violin accompaniment. I direct you u to "I was hoping", which actually sounds much better on the unplugged cd, where the earth shaking sonar noises are replaced by cello or double bass and the free association lyrics assume greater emotional weight as it goes. I direct u to "are u still mad", which may be an "uninvited" substitute, but still sounds amazing with its repeated, simple piano figure, before a wave of guitars and strings roll in. oh, I could go on... john. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Jun 2001 15:58:29 +1000 From: "Lavenda" Subject: [oztori] Novacastrians? Hello... Well yesterday there was a little informal Novacastrian meet of list members (if anyone reading this is a Novacastrian and wasn't there, email us! We're still feeling lonely). Paper aeroplanes aside, we were talking about the birthday parties and figured we'll join the Sydney ones. Newcastle may jsut surprise me yet again, but we don't think there's enough people here for a decent party. Plus, it'll make the Syd one bigger. But if flyers etc are sent up we can put them up around the uni and places. Any idea on a date yet? I think Saturdays are good as it gives you the whole day free of work (theoretically) to set up. Of course, date depends on venue availability. But anyway... So yeah, any other novacastrians still on the list? I'm very happy to find someone who sounds almost as devoted to Alanis as I am (correct me if there are more on this list)... Alanis has always been my first love :) btw, "i was hoping" is really really great to sing to when you're sloshed... for example: "we left the reschtaurant where the head waiter in hisch schixtiesch schaid, goodbye schir thank you for your buschinesch schir you're schuccscheschful and eschtablisched schir we like the frequency with which you dine here schir and you-hoooour mo-hunnneyyyyyy" *ahem* that's enough from me, i think :^ > -----Original Message----- > From: Spencer John [mailto:molasses84@hotmail.com] > Sent: Monday, 25 June 2001 15:55 > To: oztori@smoe.org > Subject: [oztori] hello, (and in defence of supposed former...) from > john > > > Hi, > > The name is john; Ive been wafting in and out of tori mailing > lists, incl. > this one and rdtrn, for years. needless 2 say, big tori fan > (to ask someone > their fave tori is impossible, like asking what shade of > orange is your > favourite in the autumn time, but at a pinch, "honey") > > Im 20 as of today, gawd, a university student with sidelines > in bad singing > and poetry (the poetry is good, dammit). > > But 2 the important part of this communication... I've contacted the people who organised the dr who con here in syd [held @ lidcombe workers club] to ask if they knew about prices, and i'll ring the bicentennial park girl tomorrow about prices. any other suggestions? church halls, community centres [there is one at guildford, of each, that i daresay would be affordable, and the church hall does include a barbeque - and they're only within 5 minutes walk from the train station]...ANYTHING let me know! ALSO people with connections to famous people [eg - Jason knowing Joy & Lara] or record companies [eg - Renee] CONTACT ME in regards to scabbing freebies to raffle off. toodles, dan ;) - --- Lavenda wrote: > Hello... > > Well yesterday there was a little informal > Novacastrian meet of list members > (if anyone reading this is a Novacastrian and wasn't > there, email us!
