Hi everyone!! Yes, Lavenda is a legend. She's going to attempt to put together out t shirt for us. *applause* However, we do need someone with some decent equipment to do this sort of thing, and we may need some help doing so. Please please please please please with a cherry on top can someone help? Someone with a bit of editing know-how? Lavenda explained a little about 'massaging' the pic, to which I replied something to the effect of me thinkg that massaging was a pleasurable experience where someone soothes your aching muscles..... so such is my extent of knowledge in the editing area. By the way, Dan, which design officially won? Thanks HEAPS to all those who did designs, they were all so wonderful. Go team! *does that throw hands in the air thing* Ummm, going off topic a little, has anyone here heard of the Josh Joplin Group? A friend of mine came over from America on Friday and brought me 6 cd's (yay lucky meee!!!!) and that was one of them, and they are fantastic!!! They sound a lot like REM in some songs, but it's mostly just the singer's voice which sounds similar. Some really solid songs on the album. The album is called Useful Music. He also brought me Whoa Nelly - Nelly furtado (yet to listen to it), the Coldplay CD (sorta like them...), Lifehouse (another American band who I haven't heard of, sound a lot like Creed, sort of, not really my cup of coffee), ATB (!), and something else, I can't remember what it is. Oh!!! yeah, the Incubus album (it's alright, I like that one song which is getting airplay but most of the CD is a bit heavier - again not my cup of coffee). Okay so this is a little late, but I've been away (I'm actually back prematurely from a meditation retreat experience gone horribly wrong), but that's so weird. I just bought this book the other day when I went into QBD looking for Neil Gaiman stuff and couldn't find anything he'd written alone. BUT I don't agree with you guys that it's that great. I haven't actually *finished* it yet, mind you, but it's totally lacking all the good stuff that was in Neil's books alone. Is this a Terry Pratchett thing? I've never read him before. Either way, it's not really making me laugh much. There've been a few points, but I can always imagine them at the front of my mind, writing the book the way uni students write their first film production. Guffawing and going, "No no no - what if he says "-"? Ahhhh hahahahaha!" I can't kill this image. It just seems to trite. :( ~Becc ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Jun 2001 15:20:34 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: RE: [oztori] Hoping this works... ANOTHER Mac Uni person? Last year i worked in a pro printing/graphics design place, i'm fully qualified Adobe Photoshop, illustrator and pagemaker operator, as well as being fully competent in the running of offset presses (most notable Heidelberg's.... eg, mainly their GTOs (must be the most versatile, brilliant, well built press in existance.. - i lvoe heidelberg presses), as well as the cool little ryobi one that i can't remember the model number of...) also filled in for a newspaper when they where short of staff for a few weeks using old (OLD) OHZ's (the original ones!) - fuck that was cool - (though FUCKING NOISY)! :) <-- ok, getting sidetracked. my job was talking to clients, and then doing everything right up to giving the clients back their final output. In any case.... i can help in whatever areas you need help in... But we need info from the t-shirt printing dudes as to the specs they need and what type of quality they can output from. What format do they want it in? a hard copy? EPS? pdf? hell, even quark or pagemaker format? we need to find these things out! :) mac/pc? what fonts was used? do we need to use a postscript font? (i wouldn't print on paper unless using a postscript font... but for t-shirt quality... i don't suppose it will matter..) - but it will matter if the printers can't do truetype :) (i have the adobe type 1 font collection, so whatever font is used, i should have it in type1 format if needed) do we need to do trapping (for t-shirts i imagine this would be a big YES) - and specs for trapping? HOW are they being printed? - silk screen? an actual press of some description? who is in contact with the printing dudes? (where ARE the printing dudes?) Are we doing full colour? or spot colour? I asked all the questions/suggestions before, and everyone seemed to ignore me... What design won? - do we have a nice scan of the pic used in whatever design won? can we get one? A very 'un-technical' way of working out what resolution you want is 2x times the lpi of the output... (like i said very untechnical, so if anyone on here realises just how untechnical that is, don't tell me the correct way to do it is.......... because, frankly, a nice 2x times lpi gets great results 99% of the time (lets ignore the fact that the file size might be twice as large as needed...), and we are dealing with fucking t-shirts here! - it's not like we are doing a 300lpi quality print job or anything... :)))))))))))))) in any case...... can we get a scan of such quality for the picture? *breath* ok... that must be the world record for the fastest email of this length writen to oztori.... i'm going now.. - hoping all above makes sense, as usual ignore all spelling/gramatical errors... - as mentioned before... I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM! :))))))))) think i mentioned most things that are sort of important regarding all this.... d. <--- defintely gone insane...... and *NOT* enjoying....
