Since I was in the chorus in that musical I played a number of parts, being slime was just one of many magnificent roles I played in each performance! There should be at least 27 votes cast now for the logo etc. Can we please put a final date on the voting and have them tallied etc. so I can get working on putting it together? Thanks funny people. Ohhh....*grumble* I got a speeding fine!!!!! Yuk yuk yuk... it was funny getting pulled over though. It's not my fault they changed the speed limit on a popular road last week and didn't tell me. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! OHMIGOD! WE MET LISA GERMANO!!!!! And she was SOOOOO nice and she signed all our stuff and she was most beautiful performing on stage and so much better than Neil Finn and she played sooo many instruments - electrified guitar, acoustic guitar, violin, mandolin, 3 different key-boardy-thingies, and she sang! And her voice was so beautiful, and I decided if she did a solo song that I would cry. And bawl my eyes out over and over until I was dry as a desert in someone's mouth [oooo... strange mixed metaphor sorry 'bout that!]. But then of course she didn't which was probably less embarrassing, but I still managed to do embarrassing things by jumping around like a lunatic {all my moves were childlike} and still not get embarrassed because my life has been changed and it was *swoon* oh so wonderful and fantastic fabulous! And we gave her flowers too and a card that was not too soppy even though I for one was as soppy as Tozza's heart in Jupiter just before the bit with the boots that she sings so heart-rendingly. Consider my heart rent. And thank you to all the Lisa Germanos out there, especially the really cool ones who have touched my life forever. And thanks Dan for convincing me that it was worthwhile to go see Neil on the off chance she might be there. And no thanks Dan for forgetting the camera entirely which means we are entirely without pictures with her "Don't you write it down - remember this in your head Don't take a picture - remember this in your heart Don't leave a message - talk to me face to face" -IG So I should go now sorry to have disturbed you all but I can almost die happy now except I still haven't seen Toz but she's such a distant memory I hope her new album's good at least she's making new albums unlike Lisa who's quit the music biz can you believe that oh woe and tragedy happiness is like TV. I remember.. well I don't remember anything actually, they were some crazy drug-hazed days.. ;) All of this 'I remember such&such' has taught me one thing - kids today are deprived. No wonder they're going out in droves to buy Slagboy and Slaggirl CDs (and screwing up the charts in the process.) Their minds have not been warped in a good way. Sure you've got your 'Arthur' and your 'Bear in the Big Blue House' and your 'Dragonball Z' and even your 'Daria' to some extent (has the ABC actually bought any of the new series or are we doomed to reruns for ever more?) but the game shows they have now are so damn boring. I ask you fellow Oztorians where have all of the 'Big Square Eye's gone? And sure 'Fly Tales' is weird-ass French people making cartoons but is it really any substitute for that French cartoon with the drawings in the sand and the cool intro music? Even Australian TV has dropped a notch - 'Ship to Shore' is ok, but not even close to the level of 'Secret Valley'. Fraggles, Ed Grimley, Eagle Riders, Ulysses, Robotech, Star Blazers, The Wombles, You Can't Do That On Television, Fat Albert, Gumby, Trapdoor, Worzel Gummidge, Square One TV (Mathnet!! :), Berenstein Bears, Inspector Gadget: I rest my case - TV was much better when I was knee high to a leather goddess with a sword. I do remember being extremely peeved one morning because Teabag wasn't on - instead there were pictures of annoying Americans talking about a storm in a desert or somesuch. Needless to say that particular episode was delayed for quite a while. I just hope Tori does her research carefully and feeds Natashya some of this great TV. Not to put down Neil's performance at all, but...yes. She was better. Just had more...vibe I suppose. Neil pretty much just strummed and sang [except for a bit at the keyboard], but Lisa fiddled and strummed and she actually moved SO COOL! And she "joined" Neil on the keys for an impromptu 'lets just bash Neil's keyboard around' session. > And her voice was so beautiful, and I > decided if she did a solo song that I would cry. Which, sadly, she didn't. Although she did say that if Neil let her it would have been Wood Floors. She also said that she's played something at ALL the other shows, but so far in Australia she hasn't...which was disappointing. Incidentally, the guitarist for the band that opened [Big Heavy Stuff] said that Lisa 'rocked' and someone a few rows behind us also screamed out for Lisa... > but I > still managed to do embarrassing things by jumping > around like a lunatic {all my moves were childlike} > and still not get embarrassed because my life has > been changed and it was *swoon* oh so wonderful and > fantastic fabulous! Thank YOU for coming because I really wanted to see Neil as well, Lisa or no Lisa...but since Lisa was there, everyone else could've come down with some horrible disease and I wouldn't have cared. That doesn't sound as nice as I thought it should have. The highlight of the night [below all the bits even remotely related to Lisa] was DEFINATELY "Turn and Run". Probably because if anyone could've done Sheryl's vocals it was Lisa. And she did, and did them well. So I suppose that would be in all the bits related to Lisa. But it's my fave song off Neil's album, so...yeah...whatever. I think everyone else at the show [except for Elissa! Hi! *Hugs* So good to see you again!] thought we were nuts. Which we are. Toodles! Dan ;) Meeting Polly Jean Harvey Hey all! here is the story... It was Tuesday the 23rd of January, and a damn hot day. I got up early, as I always do. I had the day off work, so I was a free spirit. I popped into Uni to hand in my enrolment, and picked up Kate. We stopped off at Macquarie Centre for supplies and lunch and we were ready to go... In our bags were - Our PJ Harvey CD's Discman Food Water Pens and markers OUR TICKETS FOR THE SHOW! We stopped off at Elissa's to pick up her and Lisa and then [eventually] arrived at the Enmore Theatre. We scored a parking spot right across the road, so we picked up essentials for meeting PJ [ie - CD's to sign, pens and markers] and headed around the back of the theatre to the stage door where John and Ryan were already waiting for us, and Polly Jean. And so the wait began...2:30...3:00...3:30...we could hear music from inside the theatre, and we recognised it with cries of "That's 'Big Exit' they're playing!" and such. An undercover police car also drove past at one stage - someone had obviously reported some loiterers in the alleyway! Meanwhile I had an empty notebook there which I, and the rest of the gang, filled with pictures, songs, poems and messages for PJ as a gift for when she arrived. Eventually [around 4pm I'm told, things went a little fast from here] a red tarago rounded the corner and we knew that Polly was inside. And she was! She hopped out of the van and walked around the front. During the day someone had left a sign saying "PJ HARVEY - Please play 'Taut'" which she looked at and walked over with due care saying "Oh, is this for me?" We all waved and said hi, and she came up to us. John and I both got our digipak version of "Stories..." signed, Ryan the LP, Lisa & Kate the CD and Elissa her "Is This Desire?" digipak. She was running late for her soundcheck and could only stay with us briefly - but even just briefly was more than we hoped for! Amusingly, Ryan pointed out that Polly's sunglasses were alot like his, prompting the reply "Yes, they are similar!". We thanked her for coming to Australia, and I gave her my book which she said that she would look at and treasure [whether she does or not, I don't care - the fact is that she was nice enough to say so]. Lisa noticed that the sunglasses were the same as on the album cover - to which PJ replied that the glasses were her own. She finished chatting and signing, after which she noticed my t-shirt - it was a picture that John had designed and we had made our own t-shirts. She said that they were much better than the ones they had for sale [John had one on - it was just the LP cover photograph], to which the guy driving the tarago [who I assume is her manager] said "I didn't approve the design!". So John presented her with a tshirt with his design on it and a copy of the Magic Dirt "Friends In Danger" album. We wished her well and she went inside. We then spent the next hour phoning friends, emailing them once we found a "pay-internet" station at the BP, we had dinner, then came back to see the show...which was absolutely phenomenal! We were so close we could see everything on stage perfectly...as you can see on my photograph page! The set was wonderful - with an extra encore not on the setlist, which we were stoked about and contained "The Sky Lit Up", undoubtedly one of the highlights of the night. ===== people honk at me i shake my fist sometimes give them the finger i don't know why i always lie to you - - jane siberry "barkis is willing" Get your free @yahoo.co.uk address at http://mail.yahoo.co.uk or your free @yahoo.ie address at http://mail.yahoo.ie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 03:24:09 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Daniel?= Subject: [oztori] polls hey people! polls will close on monday the 18th re voting, so please vote before then www.oztori.org dan ;) ===== people honk at me i shake my fist sometimes give them the finger i don't know why i always lie to you - - jane siberry "barkis is willing" Get your free @yahoo.co.uk address at http://mail.yahoo.co.uk or your free @yahoo.ie address at http://mail.yahoo.ie ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Jun 2001 18:20:16 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: RE: [oztori] beauty and tequila Daniel Gee wrote: >My god I thought I was excited after meeting PJ Harvey >but you Jason really took the biscuit.
