OMG... I am an admirer of both Kate and Tori (although some of you may question that given some of my 'negative' posts about Tori).. but how you can totally hate one and love the other is a bit.. well.. unexpected. Tori actually sounds vocally a LOT like Kate on a *few* split seconds of her songs - the "I could have, I should have" bit of the studio Icicle.. and the "nothing's gonna stop me from floating" bits of Father Lucifer come to mind - mostly when Tori's singing in her upper register. Bah! Glad to see I got invited :P [or maybe I was and couldn't make it... can't quite remember... surely I knew you then, if ever so briefly? Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, think I'll eat some worms. Fat ones, skinny ones, big ones, small ones...et al.] > said I think that people can run the MQ uni friday > night disco thing - hows about we do that and play > SLGirls Okay, so we come to the issue of abbreviation again that came about with ftch or ftcgh or whatever you call it. I think that one sux coz it looks like "Slag Girls". Mind you, following the pattern of LE, UTP, BFP, FTCH, TVAB would leave us with SLG which still looks like it's short for either Slag or Slug, neither of which is too cool. But 'consistency is all I ask'. So my vote goes for either "Girls" on its own, taking only the head of the nominal group for those linguists out there, or "SLG" for consistency's sake. But not 'SLGirls'. Although now I feel extremely folish for spending 5 minutes of my time writing this paragraph and being so anal as to even bring up as miniscule a point as this. 'Don't these people have anything better to do?' > and other tori stuff, then all go on for > dinner or movie or karaoke or something after that, > make a night of it? But back to my original point, yes, this is a splendid idea for a few reasons: 1 - you actually get paid $50 for doing this, which would fund either a CD + then some, or a bit of a bar tab for us to drink and make merry with 2 - we could force Tori upon many unsuspecting patrons up at the bar. You actually get to spin stuff for 3 hrs, so SLG would be preceded, I assume, by a selection of other Toz choonz. 3 - You can get the volume on those big speakers quite loud, which could make for an intense listening experience 4 - The boy in charge of setting up the CD players and turntables is kinda cute, and it would provide an opportunity to liase with him. It is also a significantly flawed idea for a couple of other reasons: 1 - it requires more effort and timing than just sitting in someone's lounge room 2 - there are other people around and therefore a lot more extraneous noise and yabbering than you would find in somebody's loungeroom, which could detract from the music. But to get around this, I suggest we have a listening party in someone's loungeroom on the day it comes out, then a public listening forum at the end of that week on the Friday, so that we cover our bases. Anyhoo, I'll leave you in charge of that one, Dan ;) Compassion, Jason xooxoxoxo PS Kate Bush rocks, but I would've actually suggested that one start with Kick Inside. It was the one that did it for me, anyway. But unless you want to be turned off her for life, do not, i repeat DO NOT listen to The Red Shoes. *yawn* Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo!
